(SOUTH AFRICA), 9 December 2013.  Kia’s K2700 Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) has been well received in the local market since its launch in September 2001. To date, the K2700 has been one of Kia Motors South Africa’s (KMSA’s) best selling vehicles, and remains as popular as ever.

KIA K2500

“The success of this model lies in its toughness and versatility. The K2700, with its 1.3 ton load capacity, offers a flexible solution to any business – from the largest organization to a small business owner”, comments David Sieff, Marketing Director, Kia Motors South Africa. The current line-up of the K2700 consists of 3 derivatives:  the Workhorse Tipper, -Dropside and -Chassis Cab.

This month, KMSA will be adding the new K2500 to its line-up.  This new model will be available as a Workhorse Dropside and has a 1-ton loading capacity. It features a brand new turbo charged diesel engine producing power of 96 kW at 3800 rpm and 255 Nm of torque between 1500-3500 rpm. A new 6-speed manual transmission results in smoother gear changes and improved fuel economy.

Compared to the K2700, the K2500 features slight cosmetic changes to the exterior, with a body coloured front bumper as the most noticeable difference.  Another key difference from its K2700 sibling is the fact that the K2500 is only available in a single rear wheel. The K2500’s height dimensions is slightly increased compared to the K2700, and features an extra 20mm of headroom.

On a features level, the K2500 is similarly specified to the K2700, with the exception of newly added remote central locking, which is standard on this newcomer.  Furthermore, similar to the K2700, it features adjustable headrests, a battery saver, cloth upholstery seats, electric windows, a heater, height adjustable headlights, power steering, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel and a full size spare wheel.

“This new model offers the consumer the same versatile solution as the K2700 but the new turbo-charged diesel engine offers a noticeable power lift, and is sure to expand this tough bakkie’s great value proposition” , concludes Sieff.

The K2500 comes standard with a 5-year/150 000km warranty, a 3-year/60 000km service plan and a 3-year/unlimited roadside assistance plan.

The K2500 will go on sale at all Kia dealers from mid December 2013.
