Kia UK has expanded its award-winning EV6 line-up with the introduction of a new entry-level variant — the EV6 ‘Air’ Standard Range. Designed to appeal to cost-conscious buyers who don’t want to compromise on quality or capability, the new model brings the acclaimed design, cutting-edge technology and long-range confidence of the EV6 into sharper financial reach, with an attractive starting price of £39,235 on-the-road.
At the heart of this new variant is a 63.0kWh lithium-ion battery, powering a single rear-mounted electric motor. It delivers up to 265 miles of range on the WLTP combined cycle, or up to 400 miles in urban driving conditions — more than enough for most daily commutes and weekend getaways. This new configuration brings the added benefit of a lower insurance group (29E), enhancing overall affordability without compromising the model’s premium appeal.
Acceleration from 0 to 62mph is brisk at 8.7 seconds, with a top speed of 115mph. Thanks to the smaller battery pack, the EV6 ‘Air’ Standard Range is lighter than its long-range siblings, with a kerb weight of 1,955kg — improving both efficiency and handling characteristics.
Despite its position as the new entry point to the range, the EV6 ‘Air’ Standard Range shares the same advanced E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) architecture as the rest of the EV6 family. This includes state-of-the-art 800V ultra-fast charging capabilities — enabling a 10-to-80% charge in just 18 minutes using a 350kW charger, or under an hour with a 50kW unit. These figures remain rare at this price point, giving the EV6 ‘Air’ a competitive edge.
Practicality remains a strong suit. The five-door crossover offers a generous 490 litres of boot space, complemented by an additional 52-litre ‘frunk’ under the bonnet, ideal for storing charging cables or smaller items. The EV6 ‘Air’ Standard Range also retains a 750kg towing capacity for braked trailers — a useful capability in the compact EV segment.

Inside, the cabin features a refined mix of black cloth and artificial leather upholstery, and the tech offering is anything but entry-level. Standard specification includes dual 12.3-inch curved digital displays forming a panoramic dashboard, wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, heated front seats and steering wheel, LED headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, and Kia’s comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies. Smart Cruise Control with stop/go functionality, keyless start with smart entry, and seven years of complimentary Kia Connect telematics services are also included as standard.
Buyers can choose from four exterior colour options — Runway Red, Midnight Black, Glacier White and Interstellar Grey — with premium paints available for an additional £675.
Orders for the new EV6 ‘Air’ Standard Range are now open, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin later this month. As with all Kia EVs, the model is backed by the brand’s industry-leading 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, which also includes an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery and motor. Service intervals are every two years or 20,000 miles, whichever comes first.
By lowering the barrier to entry while retaining the technology, design excellence and ultra-fast charging capabilities that define the EV6, the new ‘Air’ Standard Range variant is set to broaden the model’s appeal even further — and reaffirm Kia’s leadership in accessible electric mobility.
