Kia’s electric vehicle strategy continues to go from strength to strength, as the all-new Kia EV3 has scooped two major honours at the 2025 Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards: the coveted ‘Car of the Year’ title and the accolade for ‘Best Mainstream Electric Car’.
The awards, formerly known as the Autotrader New Car Awards, are uniquely grounded in real-world insight. More than 225,000 UK car owners took part in the judging process, rating their vehicles across 16 key criteria — from reliability and performance to running costs, appearance and overall satisfaction. Unlike traditional industry awards, every winner is determined not by expert panels, but by genuine consumer sentiment.
It was this depth of feedback that saw the EV3 emerge as a clear favourite. Despite being Kia’s most affordable current EV, priced from £33,005, the EV3 was repeatedly praised by owners for its standout value, refined package, and exceptional blend of technology, comfort and style. With a WLTP range of up to 375 miles, five-seat practicality and a trio of well-equipped trim levels, the EV3 presents a compelling option for buyers stepping confidently into the electric era.
Real Praise from Real Drivers
Autotrader’s Editorial Director, Erin Baker, highlighted the overwhelmingly positive sentiment behind the EV3’s win:
“It may be Kia’s most affordable current EV on sale, but the EV3 still manages to pack a premium punch. It scored top marks for the quality of its features which, combined with eye-catching looks and a great driving experience, has made the EV3 a massive hit with its owners.”
One owner remarked:
“This was my first ever electric car, and it really stood out among all the other EVs, particularly within my price bracket. It’s quirky, futuristic, packed full of brilliant features, and it’s really easy to drive. Plus, I can get the whole family in it with room to spare. We absolutely love it.”

Market Response Matches Recognition
The consumer accolades are mirrored by the EV3’s commercial success. According to Paul Philpott, President & CEO of Kia UK Limited, the award wins reflect strong retail momentum:
“Having already won UK and World Car of the Year for 2025, it’s even more encouraging to see real customers voting it their Car of the Year via Auto Trader. The EV3’s performance in the UK retail EV market is a testament to its broad appeal and practical brilliance.”
Philpott also confirmed the brand’s ongoing electric push:
“This positive recognition gives us and our dealer partners enhanced momentum as we continue to launch yet more customer-centric EVs, such as the EV4 and EV5 coming by year end.”
A Legacy of Recognition
Kia’s presence at the Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards is no one-off success. Last year, the Kia EV6 was named both ‘Best Car for Families’ and ‘Best Car for Dog Owners’. In 2023, the Soul EV claimed ‘Best Value Electric Car’, while the EV6 was crowned ‘New Car of the Year’. The EV3’s double win in 2025 builds on this legacy, underscoring Kia’s growing reputation as a brand that consistently meets — and exceeds — customer expectations.
Looking Ahead
With the EV3 setting a new benchmark for affordability and premium appeal in the electric vehicle sector, anticipation is building for the arrival of the EV4 and EV5. Both models will feature in the upcoming ‘Kia Electric Experience’ – a nationwide tour beginning 8 July that gives customers the opportunity to explore Kia’s electric range first-hand at dealerships across the UK.
As electric mobility becomes more accessible and mainstream, the EV3’s victory signals a shift in what UK drivers value most: genuine quality, reliable performance, and smart design at an attainable price. In delivering all three, the Kia EV3 has not only won awards – it has won hearts.
