Kia has announced a significant partnership with Geotab, a global leader in connected vehicle and asset management solutions, marking a transformative step in fleet management and light commercial vehicle (LCV) innovation. This collaboration aims to elevate Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) range with cutting-edge technology and comprehensive data solutions, promising to reshape how businesses manage their fleets.
Strategic Partnership for Enhanced Fleet Management
The integration of Geotab’s fleet management technology with Kia Connect’s advanced PBVs is set to optimize operations, improve driver safety, and boost profitability. The partnership will leverage Geotab’s expertise in connected transportation to offer a suite of solutions including enhanced in-vehicle technology, innovative systems, and advanced route optimization.
Kia’s PBVs, designed to be the most technologically advanced LCVs on the market, will benefit from a range of Geotab’s data solutions. This includes a white-label fleet management platform, fleet manager and driver apps, and in-vehicle infotainment integration. The collaboration will also introduce advanced EV routing capabilities with automated charging stop recommendations and seamless integration with Kia Charge services, allowing fleet managers to efficiently handle charging contracts and billing.
Integration and Flexibility
One of the key features of this partnership is the ability to integrate Geotab’s solutions across various brands without the need for additional hardware. This flexibility ensures that fleet managers can incorporate other branded vehicles into the platform and access a comprehensive overview of their operations. Real-time data will streamline vehicle management, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance needs, all while allowing for customization based on specific fleet requirements.
Marc Hedrich, President of Kia in Europe, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “As Kia PBVs will be the most technologically advanced LCVs available, we want to enhance every aspect of the customer experience through advanced connectivity. This extends to having flexible data solutions that enable easy integration in multi-brand fleets without the need for additional hardware.”

Geotab’s Role and Benefits
Geotab’s role in this collaboration includes providing advanced data analytics to support fleet managers in their daily operations and strategic planning. Christoph Ludewig, Vice President Europe OEM and Leasing/Rental/Mobility at Geotab, highlighted the benefits: “In a market where vehicle uptime directly impacts profitability, Geotab’s advanced data analytics can enable fleet managers to optimize planning, efficiently manage EV fleets in line with charging infrastructure, and ensure that vehicles are always available when and where needed.”
Kia’s Vision for PBVs
The PBVs are a cornerstone of Kia’s Plan S strategy, which focuses on expanding the brand’s electric vehicle lineup. The innovative BEV platform developed for PBVs allows for flexibility in wheelbase lengths and vehicle sizes, accommodating various body types and conversions. Kia’s commitment to this initiative is reinforced by a substantial investment in a new manufacturing plant in Korea, set to produce up to 300,000 PBVs annually.
Kia’s PBVs, backed by a seven-year/150,000 km warranty, are poised to offer businesses unprecedented operational efficiency and customization. This collaboration with Geotab not only supports Kia’s ambition to redefine fleet management but also sets a new standard in the LCV market.
