KGM Motors UK, formerly known as SsangYong, has raised £2,112.50 in honour of Martin Allies – a treasured colleague, friend, and respected figure in the motor trade who sadly passed away in August 2024.
Martin was more than a professional with over four decades in the industry; since joining KGM in 2018, he became an integral part of the brand’s UK family. In tribute to his memory, the KGM team undertook a heartfelt month-long challenge: to collectively cover 5,400 miles – the symbolic distance from their Swindon-based head office to the Maldives, a place that held special meaning for Martin and his wife, Kate.
The funds raised were split equally between two causes close to Martin’s heart. Half was donated to Cancer Research UK, KGM Motors UK’s chosen national charity. The remaining half – £2,112.50 – was gifted to the Shipton Moyne Recreation Ground, a cherished local space just a short walk from Martin’s family home.
This donation will go toward enhancing and maintaining the village’s treasured green space. It will support initiatives such as the community fireworks display that Martin was well known for organising, and help fund improvements to the children’s playground – a legacy that will directly benefit his twin grandsons and countless other families in the local area.

This fundraising effort is just one small way we can continue his legacy and support his loved ones, as well as celebrate a place he held very close to his heart.”
Martin’s passing has left a profound void, but the outpouring of support during this initiative has been a testament to the impact he made – both professionally and personally.
