Volkswagen brings innovation to the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor show
- 18 cars including three special models on display on 2184m2 exhibition stand in Hall 6
- Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles to present Amarok special edition
Volkswagen will bring innovation to the 2013 Johannesburg International Motorshow from 18 to 27 October 2013 with the display of fascinating products and interactive exhibits.
The main theme of the Volkswagen’s stand is innovation which will be presented through different interactive exhibits on the stand. This will include alternative mobility and Think Blue touch tables, Think Blue Photo Booth and Dynaudio Soundball.
The highlights on the stand will include the new Golf BlueMotion and iBeetle. The new Golf BlueMotion, which is one of the most fuel efficient cars in its segment, is powered by the 2.0 litre new direct-injection turbo diesel engine with 81kW power output. It has a claimed fuel consumption of 3.2l/100 km and CO2 emissions value of 85g/km.
The iBeetle is a special edition that is based on a full integration of the iPhone into the Beetle. That means the iPhone is fully capable of communication with the vehicle and exchanges data back and forth. The iBeetle uses a specially developed docking station and a unique app called “Volkswagen Car-Net The Beetle”. This makes the Beetle the first model in the Volkswagen Group in which the iPhone will become an integrated component. The innovative interface is a standard feature of the newly conceptualised iBeetle. The interface is compatible with the iPhone 4/4s and new iPhone 5/5s
In total, Volkswagen’s 2184m2 exhibition space in Hall 6 will be exhibiting 18 cars that will also include the special edition Scirocco GTS as well as an exciting, high tech concept car which provides a glimpse of the future of the Volkswagen brand. The modular stand structure is fully imported from Germany and meets the international motorshow standards.
For outdoor exhibition, Volkswagen will have Touareg and Amarok double cab showcasing their off road capabilities at the show’s 4×4 track.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will present the Amarok Edition as well as super cool concept model at its stand in Hall 5. Other Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ models such as T5, Crafter and Caddy will also be on display on the nearly 900m2 stand (outdoor and indoor).
The Amarok Edition concept combines design elements that are as extroverted and elegant, with exceptionally high quality, bold interior and exterior details. The high-end features of this double cab bakkie will appeal to customers who are looking for a rugged lifestyle bakkie in the popular light commercial vehicles segment. The Amarok Edition sets itself apart from the standard derivatives through its colour scheme: copper orange with black elements. Other visual accents come from the smoked tail lights, underbody protection in body colour, contrasting black wheel wells and badges on the doors and boot lid.
