General Motors has an innovative interactive social media competition running for the duration of the Johannesburg International Motor Show, which runs at Nasrec until Sunday, October 27.

And there are fantastic “interactive” prizes up for grabs, involving spending quality time with a GM vehicle.

The competition requires petrol-heads to visit the General Motors stand and request a button representing their favourite General Motors product. There are different buttons for the Chevrolet, Isuzu and Opel brands.

“Once you have received your button, the next step is to register on the stand with one of our hosts or hostesses, to take part in that particular competition. You then have a photo taken of yourself with the button, and with your favourite car on our stand, and post it on our Facebook page.” explains Llunga Ntsendwana, Product Communications Manager at General Motors South Africa.  This can apply to any product on the stand, from the Chevrolet, Opel and Isuzu models ranges.

“With the Chevrolet button, you get the opportunity to become The Next Chevrolet TrailBlazer.  If you are the chosen winner, this means you get the use of a Trailblazer to enable you to spend a weekend away with friends on a safari wherever you choose, in South Africa.

“With Isuzu we are looking for The Next Isuzu Brand Star. Here the idea is to take a picture of yourself with our Isuzu Brand Ambassador on the stand. Entrants need to find out who the particular Ambassador is on the day. The prize is three months with an Isuzu! And you’ll get fuel with it.

The final one on the GM stand is the search for the” Opel Transporter”, so titled after the characters in the popular movie. Opel is thus looking for the coolest dude or dudette. Black shirt, shades, slicked hair, or similar cool attitude and attire.

“So we are looking for the coolest or meanest Opel Transporter. For the Opel competition, the winner will get R10 000 worth of accessories, or R10 000 off the cost of his or her next Opel. And we will have a post-competition day, were entrants get the chance to win a drive in a special Opel at Kyalami”

“A motor show is a celebration,” says Llunga Ntsendwana, “A celebration of our customers and the models across our various brands. And that applies to what’s coming in the future as well.”
