The plucky Suzuki Jimny is preparing to make history once again at Jimny Gathering 2025, set to take place from 25 to 28 September at Louvain Guest Farm in the Western Cape’s breathtaking Outeniqua Mountains.
This much-anticipated event will unite Jimny enthusiasts from across South Africa in a celebration of off-road adventure, custom builds, and the unique community spirit inspired by Suzuki’s iconic 4×4.
The programme promises a packed schedule, but the highlight will undoubtedly be an attempt at another Guinness World Record.
“It’s happening – we’re going for another Guinness World Record,” confirms event MC, South African comedian and proud Jimny driver Schalk Bezuidenhout. “This time, for the most cars to close their doors at the exact same time. Ja, you heard me – a synchronized Jimny door slam! So polish those hinges, fuel up, and join the fun.”
The attempt follows the success of Jimny Gathering 2023, when hundreds of Jimny, LJ, SJ and Samurai models lit up the night by setting the record for the most vehicles to switch on their headlights simultaneously.

For the 2025 challenge, Guinness World Records requires a minimum of 250 vehicles, with at least one door on each closed within five seconds of the official signal.
“We believe the synchronized door slam will be an exciting spectacle – and one that will make for some truly unforgettable social media moments,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa.
In Clarens two years ago, almost 800 Jimny owners turned up to make history. This year, organisers expect to exceed that number as the convoy gathers at Louvain Guest Farm for the big moment on 27 September.
