Johannesburg, 29 January 2026 – Only three months after its South African debut, the Jetour T2 has already made a significant mark on the local automotive scene. The design-forward SUV has rapidly built a loyal customer base, drawn widespread media attention, and this week was officially named a finalist in the prestigious South African Car of the Year (COTY) awards.
Having sold over 1 500 units locally since launching in September 2024, the Jetour T2 impressed the COTY jury with its combination of style, technology, and value. Now in its 40th year and sponsored by Old Mutual Insure, the awards are organised by the South African Guild of Mobility Journalists (SAGMJ). From an initial list of 30 semi-finalists, the finalists will now undergo a rigorous three-day evaluation before the ultimate winner is announced in May.
“Since first launching in South Africa, the response to Jetour has been incredible, and I couldn’t be prouder of what our team has accomplished,” says Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour South Africa. “Being selected as a South African Car of the Year finalist for our T2 is a true reflection of what the Jetour brand stands for – delivering high-quality vehicles. Every member of our team, both locally and internationally, has worked tirelessly to provide cars and service that our growing family of customers can trust.”
A Design-Forward SUV with Versatile Capability
The Jetour T2’s boxy, bold design is offered in three derivatives: Aspire, Xplora, and the flagship Odyssey. All models measure 4 785 mm in length and 2 006 mm in width, with heights ranging between 1 870 mm and 1 880 mm. Across the range, the T2 comes packed with advanced comfort, convenience, safety, and technology features.
On the exterior, every T2 model is equipped with automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights, electrically folding and heated side mirrors, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, and the distinctive Jetour animation projected onto the ground.
Inside, the T2 prioritises both driver and passenger experience. Features include ventilated front seats, paddle-shift gears, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start with keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, USB Type-A and Type-C ports, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, and a large 15.6-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety and Technology That Inspire Confidence
Safety is central to the T2’s design. Advanced driver-assistance systems come standard across all models, including cruise control, auto hold assist, rollover mitigation, blind spot monitoring, door open warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear collision warning. Six airbags provide comprehensive protection, while rear parking sensors and a 540-degree camera system simplify maneuvering. Additional features such as tyre pressure monitoring, traction and stability control, hill descent control, and auto lock/unlock doors further enhance both safety and convenience.
Performance and Pricing for Every Lifestyle
The T2 range caters to a wide spectrum of drivers. The entry-level Aspire starts at R569 900, offering 2WD, a 7-speed DCT, 125 kW, and a top speed of 170 km/h. The mid-range Xplora (R639 900) adds 4WD, 180 kW, a top speed of 180 km/h, and adventure-focused features such as an eight-speaker audio system, illuminated door sills, a factory-fitted tow bar, and off-road crawl control. The flagship Odyssey (R679 900) combines Xplora’s capabilities with luxury upgrades, including a 12-speaker Sony sound system, electrically adjustable passenger seat, multi-colour ambient lighting, and an illuminated Jetour logo in the grille.
All T2 models are backed by Jetour’s extensive after-sales support: a 7-year / 200 000 km warranty, a 7-year / 75 000 km service plan, and a 10-year / 1 000 000 km engine warranty (first owner only). Supported by over 55 dealers nationwide, Jetour ensures parts availability with a Midrand warehouse stocking more than R75 million worth of components, with another R20 million incoming.

In just a few months, it has proven that bold design, advanced technology, and everyday practicality can coexist with long-term peace of mind.
