Seven-seat off-roader gets a boost – physically and visually
Zwartkop, Pretoria – Chrysler South Africa’s flagship seven-seater, the Jeep Commander, has received a mid-life boost with the introduction of the Commander Extreme Sport. The new model fits in perfectly between the top-of-the-range Limited edition and the entry-level Sport, yet offers much more in terms of a value-for-money proposition.
Jeep Commander Extreme Sport has had its engine output enhanced by the inclusion, for the first time, of a STARTEC electronic engine management module that sees the power increase to 193kW (from 165 kW) and the torque to 580 Nm (from 510 Nm).
These improvements have been designed to give the vehicle better mid-range performance. Increases to the Commander’s already substantial towing abilities have also been accomplished. The conversion has not been implemented at the expense of engine reliability and additional fuel consumption, however, and carries the full Jeep / MOPAR warranty.
The full-house interior of the Jeep Commander Extreme Sport now features full leather seating and standard additions to the exterior include a removable tow-bar as well as discreet “Extreme Sport” badges on both front fenders.
The Jeep Commander Extreme Sport will be available immediately from Jeep dealerships country-wide, however, only a finite number will be available, making this a very unique Jeep offering. The price is a competitive R439 900.
