In an inspired harmony of innovation and artistry, Honda has teamed up with celebrated saxophonist Otis Lawrence to mark International Jazz Day with a performance like no other. The stage? A bespoke composition blending the soulful resonance of Lawrence’s saxophone with the unexpected rhythm section provided by the Honda Jazz e:HEV.
In celebration of a genre that transcends borders, cultures and time, Honda’s latest creative project transforms its best-selling hybrid supermini into a percussive instrument. From the subtle click of the remote key fob to the satisfying thud of the bonnet, the Jazz e:HEV provides a rich tapestry of sound elements that have been recorded, arranged, and woven into a one-off musical track to accompany Lawrence’s masterful improvisation. The result? A captivating duet that brings mechanical precision and human expression into perfect sync.
Otis Lawrence, a seasoned performer known for his expressive tone and improvisational flair, brings his award-winning talent to this unique collaboration. Meanwhile, the Honda Jazz – a stalwart of practicality and quiet sophistication – steps into the spotlight, revealing a new, rhythmic dimension to its already versatile character.
Nik Pearson, General Manager of Corporate Communications at Honda Motor Europe, summed it up best:
“With its style, sophistication and famed reliability, the Honda Jazz is the perfect bandmate for Otis and his saxophone. Since embarking on its European tour over 20 years ago, the Jazz has built up a dedicated fanbase and received a chorus of strong reviews – this is therefore a fitting musical tribute to our very own chart-topper.”
