(Whitley, Coventry – 27 June 2014). Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum is to deliver a lecture about his ‘Life in Design’ at Dulwich Picture Gallery on Sunday 29 June accompanied by some of the most beautiful cars ever produced by the British marque.

The legendary car designer will talk about his life, career and inspirations at the historic venue, accompanied by his latest creation – the acclaimed F-TYPE Coupé, which will sit side-by-side with the iconic C-Type, D-Type and E-Type.

Ian Callum said: “I have long been a champion of world class British design and I’m very excited to be able to present some of Jaguar’s most iconic cars including the new F-TYPE in front of Sir John Soane’s masterpiece. Just like Jaguar, Dulwich Picture Gallery is quintessentially British – the epitome of elegance, innovation and inspiration.”

The classic cars on display all boast a very rich history. The C-Type MVC 630, still in its period Ecurie Ecosse flag blue, was the last one acquired by the famous Scottish racing team in 1953 and the only one to have competed at Rheims, Nurburgring and Spa that year.

The D-Type OKV1 is the first works car that raced at Le Mans in 1954, finishing second to Ferrari by just 109 seconds. While the E-Type 1600RW was the fourth right-hand drive roadster off the production line and the first one to be sold to none other than the legendary Lofty England. Lofty was the company’s Competition Director before becoming Managing Director.

Nick Goldthorp, Managing Director of Classic Motor Cars of Bridgnorth, the restoration company that provided the classic cars on display, said: “We are delighted to help Jaguar and Dulwich Gallery put together such an amazing display of old and new to celebrate Ian’s outstanding life in design. These classic cars all have an amazing history that makes them unique and it is only a matter of time until Ian’s creation, the F-TYPE, joins these lines.”
