Pretoria, South Africa – December 3, 2024: Jaguar is rewriting the rules of automotive design and innovation. The unveiling of Type 00, a dramatic design vision concept, signals the next phase of the marque’s transformation into an all-electric luxury brand. It stands as a bold testament to Jaguar’s creative rebirth under the guiding ethos of “Copy Nothing,” a philosophy rooted in the singular vision of founder Sir William Lyons.
Debuting at the prestigious Miami Art Week, Type 00 (pronounced “Type Zero Zero”) embodies Jaguar’s reimagined design philosophy: Exuberant Modernism. This philosophy combines vibrant creativity, future-forward ingenuity, and a fearless defiance of convention. The result is a concept that captures the imagination while redefining what an electric vehicle can be.
A Visionary Design
Type 00 is a bold step into uncharted territory. With its long bonnet, sweeping roofline, and fastback silhouette, the concept car breaks free from the utilitarian constraints often associated with electric vehicles. Its 23-inch alloy wheels and boat-tail rear create a dramatic, sculptural profile that is unmistakably Jaguar.
Central to its design is the all-new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), a bespoke platform enabling the car’s striking proportions. Jaguar’s Chief Creative Officer, Professor Gerry McGovern OBE, describes Type 00 as “an unmistakable presence…a foundation stone for a new family of Jaguars that will look unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”
In an ode to Jaguar’s heritage and creativity, Type 00 is presented in two captivating colours:
- Miami Pink, inspired by the pastel tones of Miami’s iconic Art Deco architecture.
- London Blue, a nod to the opalescent silver blues of Jaguar’s storied 1960s models.

Symbolic of Change
Jaguar’s new identity radiates through every detail of Type 00. The leaper, Jaguar’s iconic emblem, now laser-etched into hand-finished brass ingots, serves as a hallmark of its forward-looking ethos. These ingots theatrically deploy to reveal rear-facing cameras, a nod to the interplay of artistry and technology that defines the concept.
The glassless tailgate and panoramic body-harmonised glazed roof create a sense of flowing sculpture. Striking horizontal taillight graphics are hidden within the bold rear elevation, revealing their dramatic presence only when illuminated.
This meticulous attention to detail extends to the interior. Butterfly doors and a pantograph tailgate open to reveal an extraordinary cabin where authentic materials like brass and travertine stone meet futuristic design. A central 3.2-metre brass spine, flanked by floating instrument panels, anchors the interior’s artistic ambiance.
Craftsmanship Meets Technology
Type 00’s interior is not only a showcase of craftsmanship but also a sensory experience. Travertine stone plinths and tactile wool-blend textiles provide a sense of warmth and authenticity. Advanced technology is subtly integrated, enhancing rather than overwhelming the aesthetic. Deployable screens glide silently into view, while ambient lighting and a bespoke soundscape adapt to suit the mood.
The Prism Case, a unique personalisation feature, enables occupants to tailor the cabin environment. By placing one of three natural-material totems—Brass, Travertine, or Alabaster—into the centre console, the car’s lighting, sound, and even scents align to create a deeply personalised atmosphere.
A Celebration of Art and Heritage
Jaguar’s presentation at Miami Art Week underscores its identity as an advocate for art and British creativity. Like the debut of the iconic E-type in 1961, this event highlights Jaguar’s commitment to creating cars that are not only engineering marvels but also works of art.
Adrian Mardell, Chief Executive Officer of JLR, encapsulates this vision: “We are recapturing the magic of Jaguar—an original British luxury brand unmatched in its heritage, artistry, and emotional magnetism.”
The Road Ahead
Type 00 is a prelude to Jaguar’s future—a line-up of all-electric luxury vehicles defined by artistry, exclusivity, and innovation. The first production car in this new era, a four-door GT with a targeted range of 770km WLTP and 321km of rapid charge in just 15 minutes, will be unveiled in 2025. Each model will be built in the UK, showcasing Jaguar’s dedication to craftsmanship and its British roots.
To complement its revolutionary vehicles, Jaguar is also reimagining its customer experience. A series of exclusive brand stores will immerse clients in the world of Jaguar, starting with its flagship location in Paris’s luxury fashion district.
Jaguar Type 00 is more than a concept—it is a manifesto. It challenges conventions, celebrates heritage, and points boldly toward the future. As the brand embarks on its transformation into an all-electric luxury pioneer, Type 00 serves as an electrifying symbol of what’s to come.
