Jaguar TCS Racing to Showcase GEN3 Race Car at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Pretoria, South Africa, 11 July 2024: Jaguar TCS Racing is set to electrify the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb on Friday, 12 July, and Saturday, 13 July, with their cutting-edge Formula E all-electric GEN3 race car. This event occurs just a week before the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season finale in London, where Jaguar TCS Racing leads the Teams’ World Championship. Drivers Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans currently hold the first and second positions in the Drivers’ World Championship, respectively.
Debuting at the renowned festival, Jaguar TCS Racing will highlight the prowess and technological advancements of the latest Formula E GEN3 race car. The festival’s theme, “Horseless to Hybrid – Revolutions in Power,” celebrates motorsport’s evolution from its inception to today’s most advanced powertrains. The GEN3 car, with a maximum power output of 350kW, epitomizes this theme.
Motorsport legend and expert broadcaster Karun Chandhok will drive the GEN3 race car on Saturday, 13 July. With experience in both Formula 1 and the inaugural season of Formula E, Karun is exceptionally qualified to showcase the car’s capabilities. His demonstration will take place on Saturday morning at 09:20 AM.

The final driver lineup for Friday will be announced later this week, promising another notable participant. James Barclay, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, will attend the festival on both days. On Friday, 12 July, at 10:40 AM, he will engage in a Q&A session at Electric Avenue, an area dedicated to electric vehicles.
James Barclay, Managing Director of JLR Motorsport and Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, expressed his excitement: “Goodwood’s Festival of Speed is a highlight in the motorsport calendar for fans. We are proud to participate this year and to showcase the impressive performance of the latest Formula E all-electric GEN3 race car. This event precedes the Formula E season finale in London, where Jaguar TCS Racing is a strong contender for the Teams’ World Championship, with our drivers Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans currently leading the Drivers’ World Championship. It’s going to be an amazing spectacle in London, and we’re excited to bring a bit of Formula E to the fans at Goodwood ahead of that!”
Karun Chandhok, reflecting on his involvement, stated: “Having driven in the first season of Formula E myself, it’s been impressive to see the World Championship grow. The combination of high-quality drivers and street-focused circuits produces some of the closest racing you’ll see. The electric technology has developed significantly, enhancing both power and energy recovery. Demonstrating the latest GEN3 car in front of Goodwood’s packed crowds the week before the Championship is decided in London will be fun.”
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, added: “It’s fantastic to see Jaguar TCS Racing participating in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a highlight for fans globally. Like the team, the festival has a rich motorsport heritage showcasing the very best of innovation and performance. Held just a week before our grand season finale in London, where both drivers are strong contenders for their first Formula E world championship, the British marque is a proud flag bearer of motorsport and automotive excellence. I look forward to seeing the GEN3 put through its paces up the hill!”
