Pretoria, South Africa – May 27, 2024: The inaugural Shanghai E-Prix was a momentous occasion for Jaguar TCS Racing as Mitch Evans clinched his second win of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Teammate and current Drivers’ Championship leader, Nick Cassidy, secured a third-place finish, marking his fifth podium in a row.

This outstanding performance, which included a double-podium finish, has further solidified Jaguar TCS Racing’s lead in the Teams’ World Championship.

Competing at the Shanghai International Circuit, Mitch Evans began the race in third position. He expertly managed the energy efficiency of his Jaguar I-TYPE 6, strategically activating both Attack Modes by lap 11 while maintaining a position within the top six. On lap 13, Evans seized the lead from António Félix da Costa’s Porsche. Throughout the race, Evans contended fiercely within the leading group. By lap 20, Pascal Wehrlein of Porsche briefly regained the lead, but Evans reclaimed it twice more by lap 28. In a thrilling finale, Evans made a decisive move around the outside of Turn 1 on the final lap of the 29-lap race to secure victory.

Nick Cassidy, starting tenth on the grid, delivered an impressive drive to finish third. He carefully conserved energy in the early stages, staying outside the top ten, before making significant progress from lap 12 onwards. By the race’s midpoint, Cassidy had advanced to fifth place. With a substantial energy advantage, he moved into third on lap 25. Cassidy maintained this position, supporting his teammate’s pursuit of victory, and narrowly missed out on second place at the race’s end.

In Round 12, the second race of the Shanghai double-header, Nick Cassidy finished in fourth place, while Mitch Evans secured fifth. These results have bolstered Jaguar TCS Racing’s standing, leaving them with a 73-point lead in the Teams’ World Championship. Cassidy now leads the Drivers’ World Championship by 25 points, with Evans advancing to third.

Jaguar Tcs Racings Double Podium Success In Shanghai

James Barclay, Managing Director, JLR Motorsport and Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal:
“This has been an incredible race weekend in Shanghai, with a win and double-podium in R11 and R12, earning crucial Championship points. It was a thrilling and fast-paced weekend. Despite the expected rain not materializing, our team and drivers managed the races excellently, making significant progress and securing podium finishes. We’re delighted with the vital Championship points and look forward to continuing our momentum in Portland for Rounds 13 and 14.”

Mitch Evans, Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #9:
“This weekend in Shanghai has been phenomenal for the team. Securing a win and double-podium in R11, followed by fourth and fifth places in R12, has significantly boosted our standings in both the Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships. We now have a brief break before we tackle the final four races.”

Nick Cassidy, Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #37:
“The team’s performance this year has been outstanding, and I’m fortunate to be in this position. It’s been a great weekend with strong results. With four races left and plenty of points still up for grabs, we’re prepared to give it our all.”

Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will take place in Portland on June 29-30.
