Jaguar Land Rover South Africa is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Flynn as the new Managing Director for Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa. He will report to Mr Dmitry Kolchanov, Overseas Director, Jaguar and Land Rover.
Flynn, 51 years, has over 28 years experience in the premium market, fourteen of those spent with Lexus. He began his career as an apprentice with British Leyland before progressing through Aftersales Management and then pursuing a career in Sales and Marketing with a focus on the retail and aftersales arenas.
Flynn then spent five years at BMW Great Britain as an area manager moving into brand and marketing training where he managed the cultural development of the company and its network as it moved from a product led business to being brand led. This was then followed by a period of running a BMW Car & Motorcycle dealership in London.
In 1994 Flynn was appointed General Manager for Lexus Great Britain and was responsible for launching the premium brand to the UK. There was a brief departure for Flynn between 1999 and 2001 where he was the Managing Director of AFN (Archibald Frazer Nash), the Porsche owned Retail group in the UK before returning to Lexus to take on the challenge of running Lexus in Germany.
“Germany is the home of the premium vehicle and to market Lexus on the doorstep of the established German rivals was a major cultural challenge and education,” says Flynn. In 2008, the Flynn family relocated to South Africa where he took up the position of General Manager of Lexus South Africa.
Flynn is married to Merryl and they have a son and daughter. He is a keen motorcyclist, golf and tennis player and an avid follower of motorsport and rugby.
