GQEBERHA – Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) has unveiled its 2025 Sustainability Report, underscoring the company’s measurable progress in delivering growth, strengthening governance, advancing environmental stewardship, and enhancing societal leadership. Covering the period from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, the independently assured report provides a transparent account of IMSAf’s performance against its ambitious sustainability targets.
Anchored in the global ISUZU Environmental Vision 2050, the report reflects an integrated approach to creating long-term stakeholder value while addressing the unique social, economic, and environmental challenges faced in Africa.

Driving Growth Through Innovation
For the 12th consecutive year, IMSAf maintained its position as South Africa’s number one in the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle segments. The company continued to push product innovation boundaries, notably with the launch of a locally manufactured Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck, designed to significantly reduce emissions and offer fleet operators a cleaner, more cost-effective transport solution.
Governance and Ethical Leadership
In governance, IMSAf sustained its level 1 B-BBEE contributor status for the fifth year running—an achievement reflecting both operational excellence and commitment to transformation. Independent third-party verification of sustainability data further reinforced the credibility and transparency of the company’s reporting practices.
Environmental Performance Exceeding Global Targets
IMSAf reached zero waste to landfill in its operations for the ninth consecutive year, a testament to disciplined waste-management systems and circular economy initiatives. The company recorded a 7.03% year-on-year reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, already surpassing the ISUZU Environmental Vision 2050 mid-term goal of a 50% reduction by 2030.
Water stewardship also advanced, with the deployment of advanced metering systems improving consumption accuracy and supporting a 40% cumulative reduction in water use since 2018—critical in a region facing ongoing water scarcity.
Societal Leadership Rooted in Community Impact
Beyond the factory gates, IMSAf invested in education and community development, extending support to flood-affected Eastern Cape communities through disaster relief projects. Notably, these projects repurposed reusable packaging scrap materials from manufacturing operations, demonstrating innovative thinking in resource use.
The company also generated over 45 additional jobs through its circular economy waste-management initiatives—proof that environmental progress can directly translate into economic opportunity.
