Mossel Bay – The ISUZU Foundation, the long-standing partnership between Isuzu Motors South Africa and its national Dealer Network, has reaffirmed its commitment to community upliftment with a substantial R390,000 raised for children’s charities in Mossel Bay. The funds were generated through the remarkable participation of athletes who competed across various ISUZU IRONMAN events, transforming one of the region’s premier sporting platforms into a powerful driver of social impact.
Building on a partnership that first began in 2022, the collaborative effort between the ISUZU Foundation and IRONMAN4TheKidz continues to demonstrate how sport, corporate partnership, and community spirit can converge to create meaningful change. The initiative channels the energy and visibility of world-class endurance events into financial support for organisations that provide vulnerable children with essential care: shelter, education, nutrition, and specialised health services.
The latest funds will be distributed among four Mossel Bay beneficiary organisations — Eden Protocol Foundation, Creating Effective Families, Denneprag Primary School, and ETHAN. Each of these groups plays a vital role in the community, supporting underprivileged youth through nutrition-rich meal programmes, educational and developmental support, training environments for children with autism, and safe shelters that offer protection and opportunity.
With this latest contribution, the ISUZU Foundation’s total donation to the IRONMAN4TheKidz Charity Trust now exceeds R1.6 million since the partnership’s inception. It is a milestone that reflects a sustained mission of upliftment and a strong belief in the transformative power of collective action.
“For the ISUZU Foundation, our partnership with IRONMAN4TheKidz is more than a sponsorship; it is a shared commitment to shaping a brighter future for the next generation,” said Alastair Hodgson, Department Executive: Business Enablement at Isuzu Motors South Africa. “Led by our Dealer, CP Nel Motors, working together with our athletes and partners, we are using this platform not just to host a world-class event, but to drive lasting change, standing alongside the charities that are doing the vital work of care and upliftment in our community.”
IRONMAN4TheKidz expressed equal gratitude for the ongoing partnership and the passion displayed by driven athletes who chose to race for more than personal achievement. “We are immensely grateful for the continued support from the ISUZU Foundation and the incredible athletes who race with purpose,” said a representative from the organisation. “These funds are a lifeline, enabling us to provide critical support where it’s needed most. It’s a powerful reminder of how sport can be a catalyst for good, and we thank ISUZU for helping us share this spirit of hope and resilience.”
This year’s contribution was made possible by the extraordinary participation of 2,600 athletes whose endurance, determination, and generosity translated directly into opportunity for children in need.
The ISUZU IRONMAN Triathlon series, one of Mossel Bay’s premier sporting events, continues to serve as an inspiring platform where athletic excellence meets heartfelt community engagement. Through initiatives like this, the spirit of competition becomes a force for upliftment—proving that when athletes, organisations, and communities move forward together, the impact is both profound and lasting.
