Iconic 1957 Ferrari 335 S to Grace Salon Privé Concours 2024 at Blenheim Palace
An iconic piece of automotive history will take center stage at the upcoming Salon Privé Concours 2024, held at Blenheim Palace from August 28-31. This prestigious event will feature the renowned 1957 Ferrari 335 S, chassis #0674, brought to the event by an esteemed American collector. With a storied past that includes racing legends such as Stirling Moss, Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorn, and Wolfgang von Trips behind the wheel, this Ferrari stands as a testament to the golden era of motorsport.
Originally starting its career as a 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti, chassis #0626, the Ferrari underwent transformations that elevated it to the 315 S Barchetta and eventually to its final form, the 335 S. This evolution included Ferrari’s groundbreaking four-cam V12 engine, the Tipo 130, a marvel of engineering with dual camshafts per bank and a remarkable 24 spark plugs.

Throughout its competitive years, the Ferrari 335 S competed fiercely in events like the Sebring 12 Hours, the Mille Miglia, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it set impressive records despite occasional setbacks. Its legacy extends beyond the track, having been immortalized in Michael Mann’s film ‘Ferrari’, where it served as a pivotal reference for recreating the drama of 1957’s racing season.
Acquired by Pierre Bardinon in 1970, this Ferrari underwent meticulous restoration and preservation efforts, retaining its original racing essence while becoming a cornerstone of Bardinon’s renowned collection. Its recent acquisition by an American collector at the Artcurial Retromobil Auction in 2005 further solidified its status as a priceless automotive artifact.
“We are honored to showcase this exceptional Ferrari at Salon Privé Concours,” remarked Andrew Bagley, Chairman of the Concours. “Its presence will undoubtedly captivate enthusiasts and collectors alike, offering a rare opportunity to witness automotive history in its most exhilarating form.”
