LAS VEGAS/SEOUL, January 4, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Company has taken a major step into the robotics spotlight, earning the Best of Innovation Award in the Robotics category at CES 2026 for its groundbreaking MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid) platform. This marks the first time Hyundai Motor Company has received the prestigious CES Best of Innovation honor, highlighting the company’s growing leadership in smart mobility and robotics solutions.
Developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB, MobED is a versatile robotics platform designed to meet a wide range of industry-specific and everyday applications. Available in two models — MobED Basic and MobED Pro — the platform caters to diverse operational needs. While the Basic model is controller-operated for research and development flexibility, the Pro model features AI-driven autonomous navigation, powered by advanced LiDAR-camera fusion sensors for seamless, precise operation across indoor and outdoor environments.
“Winning this prestigious award reinforces our commitment to advancing robotics solutions that enhance everyday life,” said Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB. “From its debut as a concept at CES 2022 to now a mass-production-ready platform, MobED embodies the potential of robotics to transform mobility.”
MobED’s modular design allows it to support applications ranging from logistics and delivery to broadcasting, guidance services, and digital signage. The platform incorporates the Robotics LAB’s proprietary Drive and Lift (DnL) technology, ensuring stable performance even on uneven terrain, inclines, and curbs.
First unveiled at iREX 2025 in Tokyo, MobED represents Hyundai Motor Group’s vision of evolving from a traditional automotive manufacturer into a provider of comprehensive smart mobility solutions. Its AI-powered autonomy, intuitive sensor suite, and flexible modularity make it adaptable across industries, offering both practicality and innovation in one platform.
Mass production of MobED is set to begin in the first quarter of 2026. CES attendees can experience MobED in action at Hyundai Motor Group’s exhibit, showcasing its capabilities in logistics, delivery, and autonomous navigation. Further details, including purchasing options, will be available on the Robotics LAB website.
With this award, Hyundai Motor Company cements its position not just as an innovator in vehicles but as a pioneer in the robotics space, redefining how technology can move and interact with the world.
