The campaign film illustrates the IONIQ 5 robotaxi’s adeptness in navigating a variety of road conditions in Las Vegas, USA, showcasing its exemplary performance and underscoring its dependability and the universal applicability of its self-driving technology, aimed at making safe, autonomous mobility accessible to everyone.
The narrative begins with interviews with Pearl Outlaw, a visually impaired American, and her mother, Ruth. Pearl, who suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa, which precludes her from obtaining a driver’s license, shares her daily struggles with mobility, emphasizing the transformative potential of autonomous vehicles in enhancing personal freedom. The IONIQ 5 robotaxi represents a significant step towards realizing Pearl’s aspiration for autonomous, independent travel.

Kandice Jones, a DMV Certified Driving Examiner with 25 years of experience, who has assessed countless candidates, was tasked with evaluating the IONIQ 5 robotaxi. Jones approached the evaluation with the same rigorous standards applied to human drivers, focusing on speed regulation, lane transitions, stopping precision, left turns, lane maintenance, and response times to potential hazards.
During its test, the IONIQ 5 robotaxi demonstrated exceptional capabilities in speed management, lane shifting, stopping at signs, making left turns, and responding to emergencies, earning accolades for its performance on the bustling streets of Las Vegas and its quieter suburbs.
