Hyundai has once again proven its dominance in the automotive industry, with the All-new SANTA FE and the high-performance IONIQ 5 N securing top honours at the prestigious UK Car of the Year Awards. Recognised by a panel of 30 esteemed motoring journalists, both models have emerged victorious in their respective categories and are now strong contenders for the overall UK Car of the Year 2025 title, set to be announced on March 6th.

All-new SANTA FE: A Large Crossover Champion

The All-new Hyundai SANTA FE has been crowned Large Crossover of the Year, thanks to its perfect blend of practicality, premium quality, and cutting-edge powertrain technology. Equipped with a 1.6-litre T-GDi Smartstream engine, the SANTA FE is available in Hybrid (both two-wheel and four-wheel drive) and Plug-in Hybrid variants, ensuring an efficient and dynamic driving experience.

Its bold, boxy silhouette makes a striking statement on the road, while the spacious and flexible interior caters to the needs of modern families and adventure seekers alike. With fully foldable second- and third-row seats, the SANTA FE offers class-leading interior space, complemented by high-tech features designed for both urban and outdoor lifestyles.

Already a multi-award-winning SUV, the SANTA FE has previously been named Seven-seater of the Year by WhatCar?, SUV of the Year by TopGear.com, and Car of the Year by Carwow. Available in three trim levels – Premium, Ultimate, and Calligraphy – the SANTA FE is priced from £46,775, with Plug-in Hybrid models starting at £51,885.

UK Car of the Year Awards judge Natisha Chatten praised the SANTA FE, stating: “A bold and exciting vehicle with striking design. Its impressive equipment and spacious interior make the new Hyundai SANTA FE an incredibly practical choice for families, seamlessly blending style with functionality.”

IONIQ 5 N: Redefining Performance EVs

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has been recognised as the best Performance Car, further solidifying its reputation as a game-changing electric vehicle. A revolutionary EV that masterfully blends modern electric performance with classic hot hatch excitement, the IONIQ 5 N has already garnered global recognition, including the titles of 2024 World Performance Car and Best Performance Car of 2024 by both Autocar and Auto Express.

At the heart of its appeal is an impressive suite of driving technologies, including:

  • N e-shift, which replicates the feel of an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission for an authentic performance driving experience.
  • N Active Sound+, an innovative sound system that delivers a thrilling, combustion-engine-inspired soundtrack.
  • Unparalleled power, with up to 650 PS available through N Grin Boost, allowing for a blistering 0-62mph acceleration in just 3.4 seconds.

Priced from £65,000, the IONIQ 5 N is not just redefining electric performance – it’s rewriting expectations.

UK Car of the Year Awards Managing Director John Challen remarked: “The IONIQ 5 N has arguably changed the perception of electric cars – and what they are capable of – more than any other vehicle. Hugely impressive.”

Hyundai’s Continued Success

Expressing his pride in Hyundai’s latest accolades, Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, commented: “The All-new SANTA FE is a beautiful, technically advanced premium SUV, while the IONIQ 5 N has rewritten the rulebook for performance EVs. It is extremely gratifying to see their appeal to customers being confirmed by UKCOTY awards, underlining yet again the depth and quality of Hyundai’s current range of cars.”

As both the SANTA FE and IONIQ 5 N progress to the final round for the overall UK Car of the Year 2025 title, Hyundai’s presence in the automotive industry continues to grow stronger. With its commitment to innovation, design excellence, and cutting-edge technology, the brand is shaping the future of mobility in both mainstream and performance segments.
