The Hyundai Santa Fe has been named the World’s Best Car for 2025 by the esteemed panel of Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) judges. The announcement coincides with International Women’s Day, a momentous occasion that highlights achievements across industries, including the automotive sector.
A distinguished jury of 82 women motoring journalists from 55 countries across five continents meticulously tested and evaluated 81 vehicles before selecting category winners in the initial round of voting. The winners in their respective segments were:
- MINI Cooper (Urban Car)
- KIA EV3 (Compact SUV)
- Audi A6 e-tron (Large Car)
- Hyundai Santa Fe (Large SUV)
- Toyota Land Cruiser (4×4)
- Porsche Panamera (Performance Car)
Following this selection, the Hyundai Santa Fe emerged as the Supreme Winner after an intense final round of voting. The competition was fierce, with all finalists boasting exceptional attributes, but the Santa Fe’s comprehensive appeal ultimately secured its victory.
A Bold New Evolution for an Iconic SUV
Marta García, Executive President of WWCOTY, emphasized the significance of the award:
“Choosing the World’s Best Car is a task of great responsibility. It must take into account the particularities of each market, the type of driving done, purchasing power, orography, consumer preferences… The winning car has to meet all these needs, satisfying drivers around the world.”
The Hyundai Santa Fe distinguished itself with its bold design overhaul, innovative technology, and electrified powertrain options. The large SUV accommodates up to seven passengers within its spacious 4.8-meter frame, offering both hybrid and plug-in hybrid configurations that enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.

Recognizing Women’s Influence in the Automotive Industry
The WWCOTY award is unique in its mission to amplify women’s voices in the automotive world. Established in 2009 by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre, it is the only car awards panel comprised exclusively of women journalists. While the voting criteria remain universal—factoring in safety, quality, price, design, and environmental impact—the initiative underscores the growing influence of women in shaping the automotive landscape.
The trophy presentation to Hyundai officials will take place soon, marking yet another milestone in the brand’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence.
With its blend of futuristic design, practicality, and electrified efficiency, the Hyundai Santa Fe proves itself a deserving winner, setting new standards for what an SUV can offer in 2025 and beyond
