SEOUL, December 3, 2025 – Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) today revealed MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid), its first mass-produced mobility robot platform, at the International Robot Exhibition 2025 (iREX 2025) in Tokyo, Japan. Developed by the Group’s Robotics LAB, MobED promises to redefine robotics for industrial, commercial, and everyday applications.

First introduced as a concept at CES 2022, MobED has now evolved into a production-ready autonomous mobility platform that combines cutting-edge hardware, AI-powered software, and unmatched versatility. The platform is on display at the Group’s iREX booth (West Hall 3-4, W3-44) from December 3 to 6, with interactive demonstrations showcasing its adaptive mobility, intuitive autonomy, and broad application potential.

“Beyond a simple mobility platform, MobED offers a next-generation solution adaptable to diverse industries and everyday life. MobED will set new standards in the global robotics market and accelerate a future where humans and robots coexist,” said Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB.

MobED’s Key Features: Adaptive, Intuitive, Infinite

MobED’s innovation rests on three pillars: Adaptive Mobility, Intuitive Autonomy, and Infinite Journey. Together, they make the platform suitable for environments ranging from indoor labs to rugged outdoor terrains.

Adaptive Mobility: Advanced Robotics, Simplified Movement
MobED’s eccentric control mechanism actively stabilizes its posture and adjusts its height dynamically, enabling seamless navigation over uneven surfaces. Its automotive-grade engineering ensures durability while maintaining laboratory-level precision. From narrow hallways to rough terrain, MobED moves with agility, eliminating the need for environment-specific robot designs.

Intuitive Autonomy: Robotics Made Accessible
MobED democratizes autonomous robotics. An AI-powered sensor suite, including LiDAR-camera fusion, enables predictive navigation, obstacle avoidance, and safe operation in crowded or confined spaces. A wide touchscreen and intuitive 3D interface allow users of any skill level to operate the robot effortlessly, while advanced algorithms ensure reliability and safety.

Infinite Journey: A Platform for Every Application
MobED’s modular design supports an endless array of applications, from logistics and delivery to research and broadcasting. Universal mounting rails, APIs, and indoor/outdoor compatibility make the platform future-proof and adaptable to evolving industrial and commercial needs.

Two Models for Flexible Applications

MobED is available in two configurations to meet diverse requirements:

  • MobED Pro: Equipped with advanced autonomy, LiDAR-camera fusion, and follow-me mode, ideal for outdoor or commercial applications.
  • MobED Basic: A foundational platform for research and custom development, offering flexibility without pre-installed autonomous features.

Together, these models provide users with a scalable solution across industries.

Design Excellence Meets Engineering Innovation

MobED embodies the ‘Refined Edge’ philosophy, harmonizing precision and elegance. Straight lines reflect technical strength, while flowing curves and Drive-and-Lift (DnL) modules optimize balance and movement. High-quality metals and subtle surface reflections emphasize both durability and sophistication, making MobED as aesthetically refined as it is functionally advanced.

At its core, DnL modules integrate posture control, driving, and steering for seamless multidirectional motion. Combined with an eccentric posture control system, MobED adapts to irregular terrain, maintains level positioning, and navigates obstacles with precision. AI-powered LiDAR-camera fusion enables real-time perception, predictive pathing, and object tracking, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
