Hyundai ix35

Hyundai has today announced pricing and specification for the New ix35, a model which seeks to continue the car’s success in the UK’s compact SUV segment. The New ix35, which is on sale from 1 September 2013, will feature a number of new standard equipment features in addition to several new optional specification choices – several of which are available for the first time on ix35.

Trims for the New Hyundai ix35 have been realigned and now feature five clearly defined specification levels: entry-level S, mid-range SE and SE Nav and two range-topping trims called ‘Premium’ and ‘Premium Panorama’.

Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK, said: “The ix35 is one of the fastest-selling models in our product range with just under 30,000 units sold in the UK since launch in late 2010. The New ix35 will continue this trend as it offers retail and corporate buyers a stylish, practical and safe vehicle that is equally at home in the city as it is out of it. With the latest enhancements, the New ix35 will deliver an even greater level of value-for-money in this popular segment of the car market.”

New ix35 retains the 1.6-litre GDi petrol and 1.7-litre and 2.0-litre CRDi engines, but for the latest model year, Hyundai will now offer Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG) as an option on the 1.7-litre CRDi. Further changes to the engine line-up include the introduction of a six-speed automatic transmission on the 2.0-litre 136PS 4WD model. This will replace the current 181PS unit and bring benefits of improved fuel consumption (41.5mpg combined versus 39.3mpg combined previously) and lower CO2 (179g/km versus 189g/km previously).

The range-topping 136PS 2.0 CRDi 4WD Automatic now boasts lower BIK rates when compared with the outgoing 181PS– now 30% and 31% for SE/SE Nav and Premium respectively.

Hyundai has ensured that New ix35 delivers true value to customers with a comprehensive list of new standard features across the range, which includes LED Daytime running lights and LED positioning lights (like on the New Generation Santa Fe), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (Low Line* and High Line**) and Trailer Stability Assist. Inside, the New ix35 also comes with upgraded audio and navigation system units for each corresponding trim level.

Hyundai has also made enhancements to the ix35’s existing chassis and suspension set-up, which includes dual amplitude selective dampers and side-load coil springs to improve ride comfort and handling.

The range begins with the S 1.6-litre GDi 2WD manual, which at £16,995 OTR, provides a lower entry point into the range than the current model. Standard equipment comprises of 16-inch alloy wheels, remote central locking with alarm, USB and AUX connections, air conditioning, glove compartment with cooling function, Trip Computer, Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control.

Moving up to SE trim, prices start at £18,495 OTR for the 1.6 GDi 2WD manual. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels , Bluetooth™ connectivity with voice recognition, cruise control,  front foglights, heated front and rear seats, LED taillights, rear parking sensors, auto dimming rearview mirror and leather steering wheel and gearknob.

For an additional £1,000 on each corresponding SE model, buyers can choose SE Nav, which comes with Satellite Navigation with TMC, rearview parking camera, upgraded seven-speaker sound system and ‘sharkfin’ antenna

Above SE Nav are the new Premium and Premium Panorama trims. which are equipped with a host of features as standard, making them the ultimate versions of Hyundai’s popular SUV. On the outside, the ix35 Premium and Premium Panorama benefit from 18-inch alloys, Bi-Xenon headlights with self-levelling system, chrome door handles and headlamp washers come standard. Keyless entry, leather seats and privacy glass round-up the interior features. The Premium Panorama receives the addition of an electric tilt and slide panoramic sunroof as standard fit.

While all the models in the New ix35 range come generously equipped, customers will have the option to specify further equipment individually or as a package. Hyundai’s ISG system is available across the range and costs £215.

The Safety & Comfort Pack 1 (£795) is available from SE trim upwards and comprises of front parking sensors, Supervision cluster, Flex Steer and TPMS (High Line)**.

Included in the Safety & Comfort Pack 2 is Smart Park Assist, Front Parking sensors, Supervision Cluster, Flex Steer and TPMS (High Line). This option pack costs £995 above the OTR price.

As with all Hyundai’s passenger cars, the New ix35 is backed by the brand’s industry leading 5 Year Triple Care assurance package, which offers amongst the best warranty cover in the industry as judged by Auto Express magazine. This includes five years unlimited mileage warranty, five years free roadside assistance and five years of annual vehicle healthchecks, which give customers ultimate peace of mind.

*TPMS (Low Line) displays a single warning light on the instrument cluster that a loss of air pressure has occurred on one of the four wheels.

**TPMS (High Line) displays which exact tyre has experienced a loss of pressure via the instrument cluster.
