The Hyundai IONIQ 6 N has electrified the UK automotive scene once again, claiming Top Gear’s Best Driver’s Car in the 2026 EV Awards. Launched to widespread acclaim, the IONIQ 6 N has been celebrated for its unique ability to make an electric vehicle genuinely engaging behind the wheel, blending advanced technology with pure driving enjoyment.
Top Gear judges praised Hyundai for turning a highly digital EV experience into a rewarding performance car, noting that the IONIQ 6 N is not just about progressive technology but about character, balance, and fun. Tom Ford, Associate Editor at Top Gear, highlighted the innovative approach, describing the N models as “living labs for the future of the driver’s car,” combining power, precision, and a touch of exhilaration.
Since its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July last year, the IONIQ 6 N has captured attention globally, building on the success of the IONIQ 5 N, which was named World Performance Car in 2024. Hyundai’s N division has packed the car with cutting-edge features including advanced suspension geometry, a re-engineered chassis, and an electronic limited-slip differential that maximizes traction and handling.
The IONIQ 6 N’s power electronics system harnesses the full potential of the E-GMP platform, and with N Grin Boost engaged, the car produces 650PS and 770Nm of torque. Drivers can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds using N Launch Control and reach a top speed of 160mph. Enhancements like the N e-Shift system with shorter ratios and the refined N Active Sound + system elevate the driving experience further, while aggressive styling touches including five-spoke 20” alloys and a high-performance rear wing complement the aerodynamic streamliner design.
Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, emphasized the company’s commitment to redefining electric performance, noting that the IONIQ 6 N builds on the strengths of the E-GMP platform and its aerodynamic profile to deliver a thrilling drive. The IONIQ 6 N is available to order now in the UK, priced from £65,800, marking another milestone in Hyundai’s growing reputation for electrifying performance cars.
