Hyundai Motor Company has once again demonstrated its prowess in high-performance electric vehicles, with the IONIQ 6 N taking home the prestigious 2026 World Performance Car award. This victory marks the second time in three years that Hyundai’s N brand has secured this honor, following the IONIQ 5 N in 2024. The announcement was made during the 22nd annual World Car Awards ceremony at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, celebrating the brand’s continued commitment to innovation and excellence.
José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, expressed his pride in the achievement, emphasizing that the award reflects the hard work of Hyundai’s engineers, designers, and teams worldwide. “This recognition from the World Car Awards jury means a great deal to the thousands of people at Hyundai who designed, engineered, and built this vehicle. Customers appreciate great design, advanced technology, and real-world value that the IONIQ 6 N offers. We are grateful to the jury for this honor. And we are grateful to the customers around the world who choose Hyundai every day and inspire everything we build. This award belongs to them and to the team that earned it,” Muñoz stated.
The IONIQ 6 N stands out as a high-performance electric vehicle, delivering thrilling power and precision engineering. With up to 641 hp through N Grin Boost, the car accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, redefining the electric driving experience. Drivers can enjoy features like N e-Shift, which simulates a traditional gearshift for a more engaging drive, and N Active Sound+, which enhances the auditory thrill of performance driving. Complementing this is advanced battery technology, with an 84.0 kWh battery capable of charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes using a 350-kW charger under optimal conditions.
Hyundai’s recognition at the World Car Awards is not new, reflecting a consistent streak of innovation. This marks the fifth consecutive year Hyundai has been honored, with previous accolades including the INSTER (CASPER Electric) as World Electric Vehicle in 2025, the IONIQ 5 N as World Performance Car in 2024, and the IONIQ 6 achieving multiple awards in 2023. Earlier, the IONIQ 5 was celebrated as World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year in 2022. These consecutive wins underscore Hyundai’s role as a leader in design, technology, and electric mobility, solidifying its position at the forefront of the automotive industry.
The IONIQ 6 N’s award is a testament to Hyundai’s vision of combining exceptional performance with real-world usability, proving that electrification and driving excitement can go hand in hand. As the automotive world continues to evolve, Hyundai’s N brand is setting new benchmarks, showcasing that electric performance can be as thrilling and accessible as ever.
