Hyundai is continuing its growth in the UK following record first quarter results for the manufacturer outside of the scrappage scheme. Hyundai registered a total of 17,761 vehicles in the first three months of 2012 with a market share of 3.15%.

For March, Hyundai performed well above the industry average of 1.8% to achieve a 3.3% increase in sales (11,715 units) compared with the same month last year.

Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO, Hyundai Motor UK, said: “Hyundai is going from strength-to-strength in the UK and we are delighted with the results thus far. This quarter’s results have laid the platform for the rest of year and we will continue to grow our sales and market share, which is forecast to remain static.

“A refreshed model range has brought a renewed interest to the brand especially with cars like Veloster, new generation i30 and i40. The launch of the hugely popular Santa Fe will also be one to look out for in showrooms towards the end of the year as will the exciting Veloster Turbo and the all new i20.

“At a time when buyers are looking to get maximum value for money without having to compromise on quality, safety, refinement and economy, Hyundai is poised to offer a model to suit every need and every pocket.”

About Hyundai Established in 1967, Hyundai Motor Co. has grown into the Hyundai Motor Group, which has ranked as the world’s fifth-largest automaker since 2007 and includes over two dozen auto-related subsidiaries and affiliates.
