Play Computer Games in Virtual Reality on your Mobile Phone

Until recently one of the biggest shortcomings of Virtual Reality Headsets using Smartphones to play games was the fact that it was very technical advanced to play computer games on your smartphone. You had to know how to connect your computer and smartphone and setup some additional settings for it to work.

Unlike the Oculus Virtual Reality Headsets that connects directly to a computer to work. Smartphones works independently from a computer, and one does not necessarily need to have a computer to play virtual reality games. One can play Virtual Reality games on a smartphone without having to be connected to a computer.

Some of the best games however are not yet available on mobile devices due to technical reasons and the amount of resources some of these games need to work. (As smartphone processing power increases and graphic displays get better, the need will eventually diminishes and everything will be available on your Smartphone).

One of the reasons why people are so interested in devices like the Oculus Virtual Reality Headsets is the fact that these connect directly to your pc, and through software and hardware make it possible to experience PC games in Virtual Reality. Because these devices makes it easy to connect to a pc and the fact that it needs a pc in order to work makes it a perfect fit for a gamer interested in playing computer games in Virtual Reality.

Until recently it was hard to connect your smartphone to your computer and play these games on your mobile device. This have recently changed when the company Trinus, launched their Trinus Virtual Reality Smartphone Software.

The Trinus VR Software now makes it easier for Smartphone Virtual Reality devices to link to computers, and to play computer games on your smartphone. If you ask me this could be the killer application that the Virtual Reality community was waiting for. Most people already own half of the technology needed to experience first class Virtual Reality (a smartphone with a gyro inside). They only need to buy a mobile Virtual Reality Headset to experience virtual reality. (And a smartphone virtual reality headset is much cheaper than a Virtual Reality Headset with build in hardware that connects directly to a pc).

Although the Trinus VR Software is not yet the ultimate way to play PC Virtual Reality games on your smartphone it is a very positive move in the right direction. I also believe that Microsoft, Sony, Google and Samsung have it in their Virtual Reality developers feature lists to add native compatibility to bridge PC Virtual Reality and merge it with Mobile Device Virtual Reality.

Trinus VR software

Trinus VR (previously known as Trinus Gyre) was created to provide PC gamers with a high-end virtual reality headset without needing to buy expensive hardware, because you already have the hardware in your pocket. Trinus VR uses the display and sensors of your own phone to transform it into a portal to your PC games. Don’t wait till 2016, play your PC games in virtual reality today, enter the Trinus.

How to play Virtual Reality PC Games on your smartphone

Combined with a headmount like Google Cardboard, Homido, Durovis Dive, ColorCross, VR One or other; Trinus VR can turn most of your computer software into a VR experience. This includes games, 3D tools like Blender or Unity, immersive learning tools or science applications like protein folding visualisation software.

Thanks to its customisation options, Trinus VR will work with a large variety of software, even if it wasn’t originally designed for virtual reality. And to further immerse into digital worlds, you can use it wirelessly, allowing freedom of movement (i.e. full rotation).

I have created a guide that should help you get started. It is a highly recommended read, as it also includes solutions to common issues and recommendations to get the best results. You can also check the specific games setup pages for more detailed information (the same rules will apply to many other games).
