Creativity takes the wheel once again as Hobby-X returns to the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 30 April to 3 May 2026, transforming the legendary motorsport venue into a playground of imagination, skill, and hands-on discovery.
Now in its 28th year, Hobby-X continues to cement its place as South Africa’s premier celebration of creativity. The 2026 edition leans fully into its theme, The Great Escape, inviting visitors to break from routine and step into a world where curiosity leads and creativity knows no boundaries. Whether you’re a seasoned maker or simply hobby-curious, the event offers a rare opportunity to explore, experiment, and reconnect with the joy of creating.
A standout feature this year is the integration of Creativeworld Trends 2026, freshly unveiled in Frankfurt and now brought to life on local soil. These globally curated trend worlds—modern romantics, new rebels, and cool classics—are more than aesthetic directions. They serve as immersive inspiration zones, translating international design movements into tangible materials, techniques, and ideas that visitors can engage with directly.
The heartbeat of Hobby-X remains its deeply interactive nature, and 2026 raises the bar with more than 100 hands-on workshops. From traditional crafts to contemporary skills, the programme caters to every level of experience. New additions such as pasta and pastry-making sessions add a culinary twist, while the ever-popular Great PNA Create Workshops continue to provide guided, skill-building experiences designed to unlock creative confidence.
Injecting a surge of energy into the event is the debut of the Pit Lane, a bold new zone that shifts gears toward action-driven hobbies and immersive play. Here, creativity meets motion and mechanics. Visitors can explore everything from remote-controlled cars and woodworking to gaming simulators and car detailing. Classic car displays add a nostalgic edge, while a dedicated kids’ zone ensures younger creators have their own space to explore and imagine freely.
What sets Hobby-X 2026 apart is its seamless blend of global influence and local ingenuity. It’s not just an exhibition; it’s an evolving ecosystem of ideas where international trends meet South African creativity in meaningful, hands-on ways. The result is an experience that doesn’t just showcase creativity but actively invites participation.
For four days, Kyalami sheds its racing identity and becomes something altogether different—a canvas for innovation, a workshop for inspiration, and a destination where every visitor is encouraged to create their own escape.
