Hino South Africa has achieved an extraordinary milestone in customer satisfaction, securing a record-breaking 99%-plus score across all four categories surveyed by Datatrack Management for the 2024 calendar year. The categories—Sales, Service, Parts, and Combined—are assessed quarterly among local truck operators, with Hino emerging as the top performer for the year.
Hino’s exceptional performance saw its Combined score rise from 98.70% in 2023 to an impressive 99.44% in 2024. This improvement significantly outpaced the national average, which increased from 93.93% in 2023 to 95.17% in 2024, highlighting the progress made by all 14 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) surveyed.
A closer look at the individual categories further underscores Hino’s dominance. The company recorded its second consecutive year of achieving over 99% in Sales, improving from 99.60% in 2023 to 99.73% in 2024. This is well above the national average, which stood at 94.79% in 2023 and increased to 96.17% in 2024.

Hino’s Service score also saw an upward trajectory, moving from 98.76% in 2023 to 99.34% in 2024. Comparatively, the national Service averages for the respective years were 93.98% and 94.97%.
In the crucial Parts category, Hino once again led the field, achieving 99.24% in 2024, a notable improvement from 97.73% in 2023. The national averages for these years were 93.05% in 2023 and 94.38% in 2024.
These results stem from the rigorous customer satisfaction surveys conducted by Datatrack Management, which has been benchmarking the industry since 1986. With the participation of approximately 30,000 truck operators, the surveys provide a comprehensive assessment of OEM performance, reinforcing Hino’s commitment to excellence.
“We are extremely grateful to our dealer network, which currently consists of 67 outlets across South Africa and other Southern African Customs Union countries,” said Itumeleng Segage, General Manager of Hino South Africa. “Our dealers are the frontline of our customer engagement and play an essential role in our ongoing pursuit of being the most customer-centric truck OEM in the region.”
Hino’s continued success in customer satisfaction surveys is deeply rooted in the company’s global philosophy of Total Support—a strategy that prioritizes building and maintaining strong relationships across the value chain. This philosophy extends from Hino Japan to the South African headquarters, the dealer network, and ultimately, to the customers themselves.
By consistently setting the industry benchmark, Hino South Africa not only reinforces its leadership position but also solidifies its reputation as the brand of choice for truck operators seeking unparalleled customer care and support.
