A remarkable opportunity awaits classic car enthusiasts at the upcoming H&H Classics auction in Buxton, where over 50 classic cars are being offered without reserve. The auction will take place at Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, starting at 1pm on 24 July, showcasing a diverse range of vehicles from the estate of the renowned car enthusiast David Lucas.

The eclectic collection features an impressive array of cars, including a 1929 Armstrong Siddeley 15hp Coachbuilt Saloon and a 2005 Renault Mégane Renault Sport 225. This no-reserve sale promises a unique chance for collectors to acquire potentially bargain-priced classics.

In addition to the no-reserve lots, the auction will feature 70 other vehicles, with a combined estimated value exceeding £1.7 million. Damian Jones, Director of H&H Classics, expressed his excitement, stating, “Our Buxton sales always have a fantastic atmosphere, but we are expecting our next auction to reach an entirely new level given the number of no-reserve cars being offered. There truly is something for everyone in this sale—from concours standard cars to projects and modern hot hatches.”

Among the highlights is a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL, boasting an estimated value of £100,000-120,000. This classic, in current ownership for 50 years, underwent extensive restoration between 2014 and 2016 and features the historic ‘TAF 32’ number plate, once owned by speedway rider Taffy Owen.

Also featured is a fully restored, matching-numbers UK-market 1958 Jaguar XK150SE 3.4 Litre Drophead Coupe, estimated between £80,000-100,000. For those seeking a restoration project, a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 in a stalled-restoration state is available, also estimated between £80,000-100,000. This vehicle comes with numerous extra parts and extensive documentation of completed work.

One of the best MkII Ford Zephyrs is estimated at £22,000-26,000. This 1959 model, meticulously restored over three years, was originally sold to South Africa and imported to the UK in 2007. Having covered fewer than 3,000 miles since restoration, it remains in superb condition.

A 1995 MG RV8, in exceptionally original condition, is estimated between £28,000-32,000. With only 2,300 km from new, this Oxford Blue model was imported from Japan in 2015 and housed in a private collection from 2017 to 2023. Recently refreshed mechanically, it is one of only 258 produced in this color.

The auction is further enriched by the vast collection of the late motor engineer David Lucas. A stalwart of various car clubs, Lucas assembled over 40 cars, commercial vehicles, and tractors from the early 1970s until his passing last year. His collection includes a 1964 Triumph Herald Coupe, a 1962 Standard Atlas camper van, and a 1956 Austin A40 Countryman, reflecting his preference for underdog marques such as Armstrong Siddeley, Singer, and Standard Triumph.

Prospective buyers can view all lots in person at Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, from midday on 23 July. The auction begins at 1pm the following day, with bidding options available in person, online, by telephone, or via commission bid.

This exceptional event is not to be missed, offering classic car enthusiasts the chance to acquire rare and unique vehicles from a passionate collector’s remarkable estate.
