Milton Keynes, UK, 4 September 2025 – Helix, the UK manufacturer renowned for producing the world’s most power-dense electric motors and inverters, has achieved ISO 14001 certification, a globally recognised benchmark for environmental management systems. The certification validates Helix’s comprehensive approach to sustainability across its entire value chain, encompassing energy management, supply chain oversight, materials selection, waste reduction, and design processes.
The ISO 14001 standard, often described as the gold standard for environmental management, provides a structured framework for companies to minimise their environmental impact while promoting continuous improvement. For Helix, achieving this certification follows a year of deliberate and focused sustainability efforts, underpinned by the formation of an ESG Steering Group.

Helix’s environmental management system is central to its sustainability agenda. The company has undertaken its first comprehensive carbon audit to assess its environmental footprint and implemented a carbon account system to track its full Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. In addition, Helix has installed solar panels and prioritises green electricity use across its Milton Keynes headquarters and manufacturing facilities.
Sustainability is also embedded in Helix’s approach to materials and supply chain management. Recognising the environmental implications of rare earth minerals used in its motors and inverters, the company has focused on improving their recyclability and integrating recycled minerals into its production processes. In the first half of 2025 alone, Helix successfully recycled over six tonnes of metal waste, while simultaneously enhancing its general waste management practices.
ISO 14001 certification also strengthens Helix’s collaboration with industry partners. Leading names in automotive and mobility—such as Aston Martin, Czinger, Volkswagen, and Triumph—have achieved the standard, and Helix’s certification ensures enhanced ESG credibility and compliance within its partner network.
Beyond internal initiatives, Helix is actively engaging with the wider industry to accelerate sustainability across manufacturing and mobility sectors. The company recently contributed to the Decarbonising Midlands Aerospace Cluster project, an ambitious effort aimed at reducing UK aerospace industrial emissions by 90% by 2050.
