Hagerty hosted a spectacular day of hill climb action at Shelsley Walsh last Saturday, under a glorious, sunshine-filled sky. The paddock was a visual feast for car enthusiasts, featuring an eclectic array of vehicles ranging from vintage models to modern classics. Designed to foster a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the event allowed participants to enjoy their passion in a non-competitive environment.
The historic Shelsley Walsh, the oldest motorsport event still held on its original course in the UK, provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The variety of cars was impressive, with everything from motorsport Radicals and American muscle cars to hot hatchbacks and vintage racers making an appearance. The diversity was such that a powerful rally-spec Audi Quattro Sport could be seen following a classic 30hp Fiat 500 up the hill, much to the delight of both drivers and spectators.

The beautiful May weather added to the enjoyment of the day for the many spectators, who filled the grassy banks and grandstands to watch the hill climb action. They were treated to stunning scenery and close-up views of the participating cars, which added to the unique charm of Shelsley Walsh.
Hagerty’s partner, Sustain Classic Fuel, was on hand to provide expert advice on sustainable fuels. They also offered each hill climb participant 10 liters of free sustainable fuel, highlighting their commitment to environmentally friendly practices. This partnership will continue at upcoming Hagerty events, including the Festival of the Unexceptional and RADwood UK.
Mark Roper, Managing Director of Hagerty International, reflected on the success of the event, stating, “The 2024 Hagerty Hill Climb was an amazing event, with weather as stunning as the cars. It was our best Hill Climb yet. This event encapsulates what Hagerty is all about, with a range of vehicles from modern-classic daily drivers to important motorsport history cars, all being used and enjoyed as intended, and everyone leaving with a smile on their faces.”
