GWM, HAVAL, TANK, P-Series, and ORA Unite for NAMPO
Farmers to Get First Look at GWM P500 Bakkie, TANK 500, and New Jolion SUV
Three New GWM Models Debut in Bothaville
Johannesburg, 13 May 2024 – South Africa’s farmers will have the exclusive opportunity to experience the all-new GWM P500 bakkie, TANK 500, and the latest Jolion SUV at the 2024 NAMPO extravaganza. Held from 14 to 17 May, this event marks the first time the country’s leading Chinese motor vehicle manufacturer will showcase its full range under the united GWM brand.
For the first time, the entire lineup of GWM’s P-Series bakkies, HAVAL, TANK, and ORA vehicles will be on display together at the massive Bothaville, Free State exhibition. The highlight of the show will undoubtedly be the debut of these new models, making their first appearance in South Africa.
NAMPO is one of the largest agricultural shows in the world, attracting 50,000 farmers from across South Africa and beyond. The event offers an unparalleled experience, featuring livestock displays, agricultural products, field demonstrations of tractors, and a central course for 4×4 vehicles. It is a must-attend for farmers and industry professionals.
Given the event’s significance, NAMPO provides the perfect stage for GWM to unveil its latest models. “NAMPO is among the biggest and greatest expos in South Africa, making it a crucial event for any car brand,” said GWM South Africa Chief Operations Officer Conrad Groenewald. “This is why we chose NAMPO to introduce our all-new GWM P500 double cab bakkie, the new TANK 500, and the new Jolion.”
The event also marks the first public showcasing of GWM’s unified brand. “GWM has been in South Africa for over seventeen years and has become a leading challenger brand in this market. Our products, known for their high quality, advanced technology, and great value, are now combined under the trusted GWM Family Brand,” Groenewald added.

The all-new P500 bakkie promises to be a standout in South Africa’s competitive vehicle sector. “We are thrilled to present our new four-wheel drive double cab P-Series bakkie to the farmers,” said GWM South Africa P-Series and TANK Brand Manager Pumza Kondlo. “They can expect options including a turbodiesel or petrol hybrid powertrain, and features unlike anything they’ve seen before.”
The TANK 500 Luxury SUV will also be introduced, bringing seven-seater sophistication, a new petrol hybrid engine, a high-tech 9-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive to the South African market. “The TANK 500 offers advanced technology and exceptional performance for any driving condition,” Kondlo continued.
The new Jolion SUV rounds out the trio of debuts, offering a fresh, sporty design and hybrid advantage. “The new Jolion brings a bold and stylish feel to the existing Jolion range,” said HAVAL and ORA Brand Manager Carina van der Merwe (Vermooten). “We are excited to introduce this model to our farmers and believe they will love what the Jolion represents.”
In addition to these new models, other GWM attractions at NAMPO include the complete P-Series bakkie lineup, the recently launched rugged TANK 300 SUV, and the affordable all-electric ORA 03.
“We are eager to give South Africa’s farmers an exclusive first look at these three new GWM models that will soon captivate the country,” said Groenewald. “We look forward to welcoming the farming community to our showcase at NAMPO as One GWM. See you in Bothaville!”
