Johannesburg, 28 January 2026 – GWM South Africa has reaffirmed its dedication to community upliftment through its Giving More corporate social investment (CSI) programme, delivering back-to-school support packs to foundation phase learners at four primary schools in Tembisa. This initiative forms part of the brand’s ongoing partnership with the Rally to Read Foundation, an organisation committed to improving literacy development and learning outcomes in under-resourced communities nationwide.
Recognising that January is often the most financially demanding month for households, the support packs aim to ease the burden on families who must balance transport, uniforms, stationery, and basic household needs. By providing both educational and nutritional support, GWM’s initiative underscores the critical connection between basic needs, stability, and learner readiness, ensuring children can attend school prepared and focused.
The Tembisa initiative is part of a broader, collaborative approach to community upliftment. During December 2025, GWM dealerships across South Africa participated in local Giving More activities, tailoring interventions to address the specific needs of schools and communities in their regions. This nationwide involvement highlights the brand’s commitment to creating meaningful impact at both grassroots and national levels.
“Supporting education goes beyond books and classrooms,” said Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa. “Our goal is to respond to the real pressures families face, providing practical support that ensures learners arrive at school ready to engage. The Giving More Programme reflects our commitment to evidence-led interventions that strengthen both children and the communities around them.”
Educators and school representatives welcomed the initiative, emphasising the value of GWM’s ongoing involvement. Gabsile Mabanga from Emmangweni Primary School noted, “GWM has supported literacy and learning in our classrooms through Rally-to-Read. This back-to-school assistance shows that their commitment goes beyond books—it helps our learners start the year on a strong footing.”
Sannie Khosa of Marhulana Primary School echoed this sentiment: “We have seen the impact of GWM’s support through Rally-to-Read, and this additional intervention makes a real difference for our learners and their families. It reinforces that education is supported not only inside the classroom but also through practical measures that help children arrive at school ready to learn.”
Looking ahead, GWM plans to continue strengthening partnerships that address both immediate and long-term needs. By combining practical support with literacy and community programmes, the brand aims to create systemic improvements in learner outcomes, ensuring children not only start the year prepared but also have sustained support throughout their educational journey.
Through initiatives like these, GWM South Africa demonstrates that corporate social responsibility is most effective when it meets communities where they are—addressing urgent needs while building the foundations for a brighter educational future.
