Johannesburg, South Africa, 07 July 2025 – GWM South Africa has made a bold statement of intent in the country’s automotive landscape by clinching Gold Status in the Passenger segment of the 2025 National Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) Survey. Notably, the brand was also honoured as Most Improved in the Passenger/LCV category, underlining its strategic evolution and growing alignment with the needs of both its dealer partners and the wider South African consumer market.
Now in its 29th year, the NADA DSI Survey stands as a defining barometer for manufacturer-dealer relationships in South Africa. Orchestrated by the National Automobile Dealers’ Association – a division of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) – the survey provides a rigorous and transparent overview of how well OEMs support, empower and partner with their dealer networks.
The 2025 edition saw feedback from 1 397 franchised passenger and light commercial vehicle dealerships nationwide. Dealers were invited to evaluate manufacturers on a wide range of criteria, including investment support, brand commitment, communication quality, and overall friendliness to customers and dealers alike. Notably, this year’s methodology was benchmarked against global dealer surveys – including those run by NADA USA, AADA in Australia, and the UK’s NFDA – positioning South Africa’s DSI Survey as a globally aligned and credible standard.
In this highly competitive environment, GWM’s recognition as a top-tier performer in the Passenger category is more than a nod to its product strength. It speaks to the brand’s clear and consistent efforts to build trust, drive value, and nurture genuine collaboration with its dealer network.
Desmond Els, Sales Director at GWM South Africa, welcomed the news as a pivotal milestone in the brand’s South African journey.

“We’re honoured to see our efforts recognised in this year’s DSI Survey,” Els said. “It reflects how far we’ve come in strengthening partnerships with our dealers and how seriously we take local feedback. Our goal is always to deliver more – better support, better products, and a brand experience South Africans can rely on.”
GWM’s momentum has been especially noticeable over the past few years, with the brand making strategic inroads across multiple segments. From family-oriented SUVs to robust double-cab bakkies and a growing range of New Energy Vehicles, the marque has focused on both innovation and local relevance. The 2025 DSI accolades are a powerful validation of that direction – signalling that its dealer-first philosophy is resonating where it matters most.
Moreover, being named Most Improved in the Passenger/LCV category reflects not just growth, but responsive growth – a willingness to listen, refine and adapt. It’s a trait that is increasingly vital in today’s rapidly shifting automotive environment, where customer expectations and dealer dynamics continue to evolve.
This dual recognition adds a layer of prestige to GWM South Africa’s trajectory. It cements the brand’s reputation as a credible and committed partner, one that’s not only invested in selling cars, but also in supporting the ecosystems that sustain them.
As GWM continues to expand its national footprint, these awards reinforce its credentials as a brand of substance – confident in its offering, focused on partnership, and deeply attuned to the demands of the South African market. The road ahead is long, but GWM has made it clear: it’s not just driving forward – it’s accelerating with purpose.
