Guild of Motoring Writers (GoMW) members serving as editors have until Monday, 30th September to submit their entries for the Bentley Motors Editor of the Year award, one of the most prestigious accolades in automotive journalism.
First introduced in 2010 and sponsored by Bentley Motors since 2019, the award recognises editorial excellence and leadership. It celebrates editors who skilfully balance the often-conflicting demands of publishers and readers while fostering talent and making the critical decisions that elevate a publication from good to exceptional.
The judges are on the lookout for individuals who show strong leadership, innovation in their editorial approach, and a deep understanding of their target audience. Moreover, editors are expected to demonstrate an ability to support and develop their team while maintaining high editorial standards.
The 2023 Bentley Editor of the Year accolade was awarded to Mark Bursa, editor of Professional Driver magazine. The judges lauded Bursa for his deep understanding of his readership, regularly delivering content that resonates with his audience. His magazine offers an exemplary balance of news, commentary, analytical articles, and well-curated features. The award was presented at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall as part of the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner. Richard Aucock of Auto Retail Profit and Tom Geggus of Autovista24 were both highly commended for their editorial contributions.
Editors eager to secure the 2024 Bentley Editor of the Year Award, along with a £500 cash prize, must ensure they submit their entries by midnight on 30th September. The broader GoMW Awards feature 14 categories, offering trophies and cash prizes to talented journalists across the motoring sector.
Finalists for the awards will be announced in mid-November, with the awards ceremony taking place during the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall in December.
