And COYS announces sponsorship of the Vernasca Hill Climb, which this year is to celebrate the best of British

COYS annual Autosport International auction, the first international auction held in 2012, underlined the continuing strength in the historic and specialist car market worldwide.

The Eleanor Mustang which sold for £97,000

Excellent prices were achieved, most notable being £117,000 for a 1973 Ferrari Dino, £85,000 for the Alan Mann GT40 continuation, £97,000 for the famous Mustang GT from the film Gone In 60 Seconds, and £91,000 for an Ascari KZ1R.

The event attendance was enormous, and catalogues were sold out. Successful buyers came from the United States, Australia, Japan, and throughout Europe. Of particular credit to COYS was a complete sell-out of the Alan Mann Racing Collection, which COYS were delighted to represent.Chris Routledge Managing Director of COYS said “Autosport is now a traditional COYS venue, with our close associations with motorsport and the racing fraternity at all levels, it is the perfect event to open our year. We were honoured to be representing Alan Mann, and achieved sales of all of his cars. We are already planning a bigger and better return in 2013.”

COYS also announced at the Autosport that once again it is to sponsor the world famous Vernasca hill climb in Italy, which this year is to celebrate the “ Best of British.”

After celebrating great Marques like Ferrari, Alfa, Maserati, the famous Italian Hill Climb, which runs from June 15th to 17th 2012, will celebrate famous British marques and honor British drivers.

Chris Routledge, added: “ We have been sponsoring the event for the last few years and have seen a variety of marques celebrated but this is the first time that the famous event which attracts cars and drivers from all over Europe has celebrated the best of British.

He added: “There is always a strong British contingent who bring their cars for this unique event but this year we want to make it special and get as many British drivers and cars there as possible.

The event is organized by the Piacenza Historic Car and Motorcycle Club and Principal of the event Claudio Casali said: “ At the end of last edition we wondered what other great brand could honoured for 2012 (after Alfa TZ, Porsche, Abarth, Lola, Ferrari and Maserati) and we all agreed that, opting for English cars, which have been so very important in autosport history, could be a very interesting choice.

He added: “ We have many participants who came from England and, we thought that it would be great for them if the “Best of British” was honoured. We are also hoping that we can have the support of the Italian representatives of major brands such as Aston Martin, Bentley and Jaguar.

Participants come from all over Europe, France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Netherlands Spain and, England and also from Australia and New Zealand
