Derby’s premier heritage motoring destination, Great Northern Classics, is thrilled to unveil its 2026 programme of ‘Evenings With’ events, offering automotive aficionados a rare chance to go beyond the cars and meet the people who shape the industry. Hosted by the charismatic TV presenter and motoring expert Paul Cowland, the series promises an evening of stories, insights, and passion behind some of the most iconic names in motoring.
Paul Cowland, best known for co-hosting Discovery Channel’s Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars, brings over 30 years of experience as a writer, photographer, tuner, and collector to the stage. With a personal collection nearing 90 vehicles, Paul’s encyclopedic knowledge and signature humour make him the ideal host to guide enthusiasts through the world of automotive legends.
Each month, the series will welcome a prominent guest to Great Northern Classics’ historic Derby venue, providing a relaxed environment to explore automotive history, design, and personal passion. Attendees can expect candid discussions that reveal the stories behind the cars and the people who love them.
The inaugural event, An Evening with Simon Gregson, kicks off on Saturday, 28th February. Simon, the beloved actor famous for his role as Steve McDonald on Coronation Street since 1989, is also a lifelong car enthusiast. From participating in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run to nurturing dreams of rally driving, Simon’s devotion to classic cars is legendary. His collection has included Lotus models, MR2s, and Renault Alpines, with appearances on podcasts such as Fuelling Around highlighting the vehicles that ignited his automotive passion.
Further highlights of the programme will include discussions with industry luminaries such as Ian Callum CBE and Peter Stevens. Ian Callum, renowned for his transformative work at Jaguar, has shaped cars including the F-Type, F-Pace, and I-Pace, and recently received the 2025 EyesOn Design Lifetime Achievement Award. Peter Stevens, celebrated for designing the McLaren F1 supercar, has an equally storied career spanning Lotus, McLaren, and Lamborghini, leaving an indelible mark on supercar and motorsport design. Exact dates for these sessions will be announced soon.
