The Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is set to thrill attendees from Thursday, July 11 to Sunday, July 14. This year’s event promises an array of exciting debuts and appearances, starting with the Supercar and First Glance Paddocks presented by heycar on Thursday. Motorsport enthusiasts can look forward to seeing Williams F1 driver Alex Albon and Alpine Academy driver Kush Maini take to the Hill.
On Friday, Richard Petty will join the celebrations, marking 75 years of the Petty family’s involvement in motorsport. The most successful Isle of Man TT rider in history, Michael Dunlop, will be honored with a special balcony moment on Saturday. Oracle Red Bull Racing will cap off the weekend with an impressive lineup of drivers from across their history as the team celebrates its 20th anniversary.
As the Goodwood Estate gears up for the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, here’s a sneak peek of what to expect:
Central Feature
This year, the Festival of Speed’s Central Feature will spotlight MG, celebrating its centenary. Renowned artist Gerry Judah’s monumental sculpture will showcase the highly anticipated Cyberster, which made its world debut at the 2023 event.
Shootout Sunday
The hillclimb, a signature element of the Festival of Speed, will see world-renowned drivers and cars battling to set the fastest time. On Sunday, competitors will attempt to break Max Chilton’s 2022 record.
Oracle Red Bull Racing
Festival-goers will witness the world debut of the much-anticipated RB17 Hypercar designed by Adrian Newey on Friday morning. Oracle Red Bull Racing will also celebrate two decades in Formula 1, with appearances by three-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, and Team Principal Christian Horner. Former Red Bull drivers David Coulthard, Christian Klien, Daniel Ricciardo, and Mark Webber will also make appearances.
Richard Petty
The legendary Richard Petty returns to the Festival of Speed as the Petty family celebrates 75 years in motorsport. The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion will be honored on Friday with a balcony moment, joined by his iconic 1970 Plymouth Superbird, driven by his son Kyle Petty.
Formula 1 Stars
The Festival of Speed offers unparalleled access to the biggest names in motorsport. This year, six Formula 1 teams will be in attendance: BWT Alpine F1 Team, Scuderia Ferrari HP, McLaren Formula 1 Team, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, Oracle Red Bull Racing, and Williams Racing. Expect to see appearances from Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, Logan Sargeant, and Yuki Tsunoda. Alpine’s junior drivers Kush Maini, Sophia Flörsch, and Jack Doohan will also take to the hillclimb.
The Iron Dames return with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2, driven by Michelin Le Mans Cup drivers Célia Martin and Karen Gaillard, while rally duo Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard will showcase their Ford Fiesta Rally2 on the Forest Rally Stage.
World-Exclusive Debuts
Global marques will debut their latest innovations in the Supercar and First Glance Paddocks. Highlights include the Defender Octa, BMW M4 CS, BMW XM Label Red, BYD Seal U DM-I, and Yangwang U8. Additional surprises are in store from other manufacturers.
Cartier Style et Luxe Lawn
Amidst the festival’s high-octane activities, the Cartier Style et Luxe Lawn offers a serene showcase of automotive beauty. This year’s concours d’elegance features vintage tractors, Bugatti Type 57, beach cars, Silver Ghosts, designs by Marcello Gandini, and Pagani models. Judging will take place on Sunday afternoon.
FOS Tech
The Future Lab presented by Randox returns for its seventh year, exploring ‘Technology for a Better World’ through themes like ‘Protecting the Planet’, ‘Robots to the Rescue’, ‘Future of Flight’, and ‘Our World in Pixels’. The Indy Autonomous Challenge will feature the AV-24, the world’s fastest autonomous racecar, attempting a record on the hillclimb.
Aerial Displays
Spectators should also look skyward for breathtaking displays by the Red Arrows on Thursday and Friday, showcasing the precision and beauty of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team.
