London, UK, 18 November 2025 – GKN Automotive, a global leader in drive systems, has been awarded a Platinum rating by EcoVadis, the independent sustainability assessor, recognising the company’s exceptional performance in environmental and social governance. This top-tier rating places GKN Automotive in the top 1% of over 150,000 companies evaluated worldwide.
The Platinum recognition marks a remarkable journey for GKN Automotive, which has advanced from a Bronze rating in 2022 to Gold in 2024, culminating in this highest-level achievement in just four years. In 2025, the company achieved a perfect score of 100/100 in six of the seven environmental categories assessed, reflecting its comprehensive approach to sustainability.
Key initiatives driving this achievement include strengthened reporting processes, the expansion of a sustainable procurement programme, and the implementation of on-site ESG audits with strategic suppliers. These efforts contributed to a 30% reduction in GKN Automotive’s total direct CO₂e emissions (Scope 1 and 2) compared with the previous year.
The company’s overall EcoVadis score rose by 12 points from 2024, and by more than 30 points since first receiving Bronze, underscoring its sustained commitment to embedding sustainability across all operations.
Dr. Clare Wyatt, Chief People, Communications & Sustainability Officer at GKN Automotive, said:
“Achieving the highest rating is a reflection of our continued, strong progress towards our sustainability targets, and is testament to the collective effort across the business as we embed sustainability throughout the organisation. We’re proud of the progress made over the last four years, building on the successes of our EcoVadis Gold rating in 2024, and we remain focused on reaching our long-term goals as we continue to improve, innovate, and lead with purpose.”
EcoVadis evaluates companies against 21 sustainability criteria across four core areas: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. GKN Automotive’s highest score was in the Environment category, achieving 100/100 in six out of seven subcategories, while Sustainable Procurement showed the most significant improvement, with a 16-point increase over the previous year.
This milestone further cements GKN Automotive’s position as a global leader in sustainable mobility, demonstrating that strong environmental stewardship and innovative drive technologies can go hand in hand.
