London, 3rd July 2024 – eBay proudly announces the return of its Van Conversion of the Year Awards, now in its second year, with entries officially open. This year, the renowned TV presenter and architect, George Clarke, lends his expertise once again as a head judge.
The competition aims to uncover the most innovative, space-efficient, and intelligently designed Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) conversions across the UK. From professional trade transformations to chic campervan makeovers, eBay invites all van converters to showcase their talents.
Discovering the Best Conversions
eBay’s Van Conversion of the Year Awards celebrates a wide array of fit-outs, highlighting the diverse creativity of participants. Whether it’s an electrician’s custom racking, a plumber’s smart shelving solution, or a holidaymaker’s dream camper, the competition seeks to honor the ingenuity and craftsmanship behind every conversion.
Introducing the eBay Lounge
Inspiration from last year’s entries led eBay to undertake its own bespoke conversion project. The result is the ‘eBay Lounge’, a beautifully restored Ford Transit Mk1. Originally a German fire department vehicle, the van has been transformed into a multi-purpose, camper-style van perfect for entertaining and relaxation.
Expert Judging Panel
This year’s judging panel boasts an impressive lineup, with George Clarke at the helm. He is joined by Peter Stevens, the visionary designer behind the exterior of the iconic McLaren F1 and the concept creator for the eBay Lounge. Laura Richards, Category Lead for Vehicle Parts and Accessories at eBay, completes the panel. Together, they will identify individual category winners and ultimately select the overall Van Conversion of the Year.

Awards and Prizes
Entries are open until 23:59 on Sunday, 11th August, with winners announced in September. Each category winner will receive £250 worth of eBay coupons, while the overall Van Conversion of the Year will be awarded a grand prize of £10,000 in cash.
Inspiring Success Stories
Last year’s grand prize was awarded to Paul White, a publican who ingeniously converted an old ambulance into the ‘AmBEERlance’, a mobile bar that kept his business thriving during the Covid lockdowns. Paul’s innovative and functional design was a standout, demonstrating the practical and creative potential of van conversions.
