The Best of British Show at Cotswold Airport based in Kemble, Gloucestershire, promises a great day out for all the family on August Bank Holiday weekend, celebrating the most iconic of British culture, innovations, entertainment, food and drink from Sunday 26th to Monday 27th August.

Best of British

Suzannah Harvey, creator of the Best of British Show and Director at Cotswold Airport commented: “As patriotic-fever hits Britain this year for the Queen’s Jubilee, Cotswold Airport wanted to celebrate everything that is iconic about Britain, expanding our already successful air show.

The Cotswolds is rich in its British heritage and Best of British Show will celebrate everything from aviation history to automotive design, from agriculture to wildlife, to locally-produced food and drink.  To top it all, we are hosting newly-emerging British bands and good old-fashioned music on the sound stage and traditional funfair promising a fun-packed weekend for all the family.”

Show Arena & Entertainment

A show arena is sure to entertain animal lovers with Ridgeside Lurcher Display Racing, The Lamb National, Ferret Racing, Birds of Prey and an RSPCA-sponsored dog show with live commentary. Meanwhile, short talks and educational displays will be provided by Wildlife Displays, an established mobile zoo since 1978, including guinea pigs, rabbits, meerkats, reptiles and scorpions.

Typically British entertainment is provided by Price’s Great British Funfair with traditional fairground attractions and vintage rides including Swing Boats, Carousel and Big Wheel, allowing children young and old to step back in time.

When it’s time to kick back and relax, a sound stage featuring up and coming British pop bands and traditional British music from yesteryear provide the perfect ambience for all tastes. Stroud-based musicians The Outcast Band, who take their influences from folk, punk and rock will entertain with their eclectic style of The Waterboys and The Levellers. Making their Cotswolds debut will be pop-duo The Approval, whose music combines British indie with American pop.

Locally-sourced food and drink can be found in the country-fair style Craft Tent featuring organic, quality British produce such as the Gloucestershire Brewery Company and traditional Fish and Chips. Don’t miss the Big London Bus when it’s time for a beer or glass of Pimms.

Flying the flag for Britain A classic car exhibition featuring quintessentially British-themed brands such as Rolls Royce Owners’ Club will display a variety of vintage vehicles for car enthusiasts to enjoy. Military vehiclessymbolising the Best of British transport from the Armed Forces completes the journey through Britain’scolourful motoring heritage.

Aviation fans need not be disappointed with a three-hour air display on each of the two days of the show.  Flying the flag for Britain will be impressive displays from the Royal Air Force aerobatic team The Red Arrows, RAF Hawk and RAF Tucano, Tornado with role demo and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

A rich variety of civilian display teams will demonstrate the best of British aviation including; Tiger Nine, with a nostalgic nine-ship Tiger Moth display; the graceful FX Glider display, performing aerobatics to classical music; andan unlimited ‘gyroscopic’ aerobatic display from Ultimate High in an Extra300.  The excitement continues with skydivers and model aircraft displays such as the popular Baby Wingwalkers.

The Best of British show will close on both days to a nostalgic Spitfire display to music from 1940s-style swing trio The Three Belles.

Visitors can take to the skies themselves during the show weekend with pleasure flights available from Classic Flight and HH Helicopters for fantastic views over the beautiful Cotswolds.

The Best of British Show will be supporting four charities over the weekend; The RAF Benevolent Fund, fly2help, Help for Heroes and the RSPCA.
