The Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard returns from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 July, and this year’s edition promises to be nothing short of legendary as it honours a milestone moment in motorsport history – the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship.
In an unprecedented celebration, Goodwood will pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Formula 1, from its formative days to its position as the world’s premier motorsport series. With official backing from Formula 1, the event is poised to deliver a dazzling spectacle across all four days, bringing together the past, present and future of Grand Prix racing.
A Journey Through 75 Years of Formula 1
Goodwood’s tribute will be the most ambitious Formula 1 celebration the Festival has ever staged. Nearly 100 Formula 1 cars will be showcased, with appearances on the iconic Hillclimb, dramatic moments on the balcony of Goodwood House, and a roll call of famous faces—from championship-winning drivers and legendary engineers to the masterminds behind some of the sport’s most influential teams.
The celebration will be curated across six captivating classes, offering a comprehensive narrative of F1’s evolution:
- Prologue will turn back the clock to 1925, exploring the roots of Grand Prix racing through the inaugural AIACR Manufacturers’ World Championship—setting the stage for what would become Formula 1.
- The Pioneers will revisit the 1950s, a decade that saw Formula 1 rise from modest beginnings to the forefront of international motorsport.
- The Innovators will shine a spotlight on the technical trailblazers—teams and designers whose ingenuity helped define and redefine the competitive edge.
- The Underdogs offers a heartfelt homage to the lesser-known competitors who defied odds and captured imaginations, whether by miraculous triumphs or near misses.
- The Champions will celebrate the legends—drivers, cars and teams that etched their names in history, with at least eight Formula 1 World Champions expected to appear.
- The Teams will offer fans the rare opportunity to get up close with today’s grid, featuring current teams, drivers and machinery.
