Team Ford Racing is gearing up for round three of this year’s Bridgestone Production Car Championship set to take place at Port Elizabeth’s Aldo Scribante race circuit on 26 April.
Ford Focus ST pilots Gary Formato and Shaun Duminy are upbeat ahead of the event, which will be the third outing for the new Class T entrant.
“It’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride so far,” explains Gary Formato. “At the opening round our expectations were exceeded when we scored our first podium. In Cape Town the car was really quick but we struggled with some teething problems.
“Since Cape Town the team have been working non-stop on the car. We are really motivated to make sure the car is perfect. We know it’s really quick and once we get the reliability right we will be a strong threat in Class T.”
Teammate Shaun Duminy is also eager to get behind the wheel in Port Elizabeth. “We are confident of a good showing in PE. The team have put in a lot of development hours over recent weeks and we expect to see continuous improvements as a result of that work.”
Formato currently lies in third place in this year’s Class T championship and will be aiming to close the gap on the leaders while Duminy is hungry to get on to the leader board.
