PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA, 13 May 2025 – Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa is proud to announce the official launch of the Ford Pro™ Convertor (FPC) programme, marking a significant milestone in the company’s evolution of vehicle conversion services tailored for the commercial market. The Ford Pro™ Convertor programme builds upon the foundation of the former Qualified Vehicle Modifiers (QVM) initiative, aligning with Ford’s global Pro platform to offer enhanced customer support, seamless integration, and unparalleled quality assurance for specialised vehicle conversions.

Empowering Customisation Across Industries

The new Ford Pro™ Convertor programme is designed to give Ford-approved converters the flexibility and capability to modify selected Ford vehicles, including the Ranger, Everest, and Transit, to meet the specific needs of a wide range of commercial and industrial sectors. Whether it’s turning a Ford Ranger into a versatile dropside truck, outfitting a Transit for medical emergency response, or developing a rugged mining support vehicle, the FPC programme ensures that every conversion is performed to Ford’s rigorous standards.

Ford South Africa’s robust approval and auditing process guarantees that all conversions meet the company’s exacting quality controls, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and durability. Importantly, these modifications do not compromise the original factory warranty on non-modified components. This gives businesses confidence that their vehicles will continue to deliver reliability and quality, even with specialised alterations.

A Seamless, Stress-Free Conversion Experience

The process for businesses and organisations to engage in the Ford Pro™ Convertor programme is straightforward and customer-focused. After consulting with their preferred Ford dealer, customers are connected with the appropriate FPC converter to discuss their unique conversion needs. A detailed consultation and quotation are provided, and once the customer finalises their payment or financing arrangements, the dealer coordinates with the approved convertor to begin the modification process.

Typical lead times for conversions range from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project. Whether it’s a mobile clinic, an armoured vehicle, or a custom-built construction truck, each conversion is tailor-made to the customer’s specifications.

Preserving Factory Backed Assurance

One of the key benefits of the Ford Pro™ Convertor programme is the preservation of the vehicle’s factory warranty and service plan. While the original warranty remains intact for all non-modified components, the conversion itself is covered by a separate warranty provided by the approved convertor. This warranty mirrors the factory coverage, offering four years or 120,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.

Moreover, once the conversion is completed, the approved convertor will issue a Homologation Certificate, ensuring that the vehicle meets all legal requirements for registration and sale in its converted form. This allows customers to rest assured that their modified vehicles are fully compliant and do not need to revert to their original specification.

Tailored Solutions for Diverse Industries

The Ford Pro™ Convertor programme serves a broad spectrum of industries, including emergency services, medical, mining, security, and construction. The extensive customisation options available allow businesses to equip their vehicles to meet unique operational needs, from advanced medical response systems to security enhancements, all while maintaining compliance with local regulations.

Pricing for conversions is determined on a case-by-case basis, reflecting the distinct specifications and requirements of each project. This personalised approach ensures that customers receive the highest-quality solution that meets their exact business demands.

A Commitment to Excellence

“The launch of the Ford Pro™ Convertor programme reaffirms our commitment to providing South African businesses and organisations with world-class, customised vehicle solutions,” says Tracey Delate, General Manager of Direct Sales Operations at Ford South Africa. “Our stringent approval process and comprehensive support framework ensure that each conversion is completed to the highest standards, without compromising vehicle safety, functionality, or warranty.
