Team Ford Racing is eager to impress at the sixth round of the Absa Off Road Championship, the Limpopo 400, taking place on 12 and 13 September. Neil Woolridge and Kenny Skjoldhammer are currently lying in second place in the Class SP championship battle and will be aiming to overhaul rivals Duncan Vos and Ralph Pitchford.
The pair is separated by just eight points in the championship battle and with only three rounds remaining in the title race there is everything to play for. The Ford crew will be further reassured having achieved a 100% finishing tally thus far this season.
“We’re expecting a very hot, dry and dusty event,” says team manager Neil Woolridge. “The conditions will certainly test the vehicles to their limits but we’ve had such a strong run in the cars, with so few reliability problems, that we are confident of a strong result.”
Mark Ferguson and Craig West will also be aiming to maintain their momentum having enjoyed a strong outing at the previous round of the championship in their similarly prepared Ford Ranger SP.
“The competition is so close at the moment that, even the slightest mishap can change the outcome of the result. In the previous outing we had two punctures to contend with but still managed a good result. However we’ll be hoping for a clean run in Limpopo and another strong points finish,” comments Ferguson.
Reigning Class E Champions Jack Peckham and Lucio Santoro competing in the Class E Ford Ranger have had their fair share of difficulties this season but with just a few rounds remaining in the championship they’ll be looking to end the season on a high note.”
“It hasn’t really been the season we were hoping for, but that’s motorsport for you,” explains Peckham. “We’ve had a bit of a break since the previous outing allowing us to concentrate on set ups and other teething problems that the vehicle has had. Hopefully our efforts will be rewarded with a strong result.”
“We’ve been very happy with the whole team’s performance to date,” continues team manager Woolrdige. “We’re in a strong position in the championship fight and overall the team has demonstrated the strength of the Ford Ranger trucks. We’re expecting to see a good turnout of spectators on the event and hopefully the reward will be more silverware for the Ford trophy cabinet.”
