PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA, 08 September 2025 – For more than 122 years, Ford has stood alongside communities, committed to service, philanthropy, and building a better future. Guided by its enduring values and the dedication of its employees and dealers, Ford has long recognised that real impact is achieved when people come together around a shared purpose. This ethos lies at the heart of Ford Building Together, the company’s global initiative to strengthen communities.
“Global Caring Month is where we really see Ford Building Together in action,” says Mary Culler, President of Ford Philanthropy. “It’s inspiring to see our employee volunteers step up year after year, working hand-in-hand with non-profit partners to support neighbours right in our own backyards. Giving back is at our core, and it’s how we help build stronger, more resilient communities for generations to come.”
Recognising that community needs are constantly evolving, Ford is proud to extend Ford Building Together to South Africa. The initiative leverages the full breadth of Ford’s resources, expertise, and the passion of its employees to support non-profit organisations across key areas including community development, education, food security, and disaster relief.
South Africa has long been a focus of Ford’s community support efforts. With this global expansion, the company is intensifying its efforts to improve the lives of the nation’s most vulnerable, who face daily challenges from poverty, inequality, and unemployment.
The country’s disparities in healthcare, education, food, water, and energy access are often magnified by the impacts of climate change, which disproportionately affect those with the fewest resources. By partnering with non-profits, Ford aims to tackle these challenges head-on, recognising that private-sector support is critical to the sustainability of these organisations and the communities they serve.
“Bringing the ‘full power of Ford’ means more than financial contributions,” says Neale Hill, President of Ford Motor Company Africa. “It’s about combining our philanthropic giving, employee dedication, company expertise, and dealer network to make a tangible and lasting difference in communities.”

This September, Ford Building Together in South Africa will include:
- Global Ford Dealers Hosting Food Drives: Ford dealers worldwide are addressing food insecurity, including in South Africa. In partnership with trusted non-profits and local food banks, community members are invited to donate non-perishable goods at participating dealerships. To find the nearest Ford dealer, the public can visit Ford South Africa Dealer Locator.
- Leading Over 180 Volunteer Projects Worldwide: As part of Global Caring Month, Ford employees and their families are expected to participate in over 180 volunteer projects across 30 countries. In South Africa, 31 projects will be undertaken across the Silverton and Struandale plants, as well as through Ford’s nationwide dealer network.
- Spotlighting the Impact of Non-Profit Partners: Through its communications channels, Ford will highlight the vital work of non-profit organisations and showcase the specific needs of local communities.
“Nearly every community faces hunger in some form, and the Ford dealer food drive is an opportunity to support the organisations that provide daily relief,” says Elena Ford, Chief Dealer Engagement Officer, Ford Motor Company. “With more than 9,000 dealers globally, the collective impact of our network can make a real difference in building stronger, more resilient communities.”
This latest initiative builds on Ford’s decades-long legacy in South Africa, where the company has consistently supported education, community development, mobility, entrepreneurship, and disaster relief. With Ford Building Together, the company and its partners share a unified goal: to strengthen communities today and ensure they are more resilient for generations to come.
