Guild of Motoring Writers members working in an Editor role only have until this coming weekend to ensure they have a chance of winning the Bentley Motors Editor of the Year accolade in the annual Guild Awards.
First presented in 2010 and sponsored by Bentley Motors since 2019, this award goes to the editor who demonstrates they have balanced the demands of publishers and readers while nurturing journalistic talent and successfully making the critical decisions that turn a good publication into a great one.
The judges are looking for strong leadership, innovations in the approach to editing and a keen understanding of the target audience and their requirements as well as supporting the development of their staff.
In 2022 the Bentley Editor of the Year trophy was presented to Erin Baker of Auto Trader. Erin won the award for making what had been a commercial advertisement medium as equally known for its quality independent journalism.
The 2023 Guild of Motoring Writers Awards offers 14 different categories, with trophies and cash prizes up for grabs but entries needing to be submitted by the deadline of midnight on Saturday, 30th September.
Finalists will be announced in mid-November, and the awards ceremony will be part of the Guild’s annual Gala Dinner at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, on 7th December.
The entry form, information about the awards, and the rules for entry can be found at www.gomw.co.uk/awards.
Candidates are advised to read the online instructions carefully before entering. If you have any questions about the entry procedure, contact Honorary Secretary, Richard Netherwood email: [email protected].
